Astronomy Fair
2013
It's amazing to me that we humans have the intellectual capacity to
ask deep questions and to devise methods for learning how the
universe works and how its contents evolve with time.

Introduction
Astronomy Fair is a program that will reach more than 2000 people and specifically
target 1000 school children in Bahau & Rantau. This programme will enhance
fundamental knowledge about universe and astronomical science among students
and public. Astronomy is science that will challenge your imagination. How many
stars in a galaxy? How many galaxies in the known universe? How many strange
worlds are out there on other planets, orbiting other stars, and what are they like? Is
there life on planets besides on Earth? The distances are mind-boggling.
The numbers are immense.
Through Astronomy Fair, students and community members will be trained to fully
utilize the optical telescope that was available with organization that was purchased
with earlier grant. The Astronomy fair, which will provide hands-on opportunities to
explore the stars and planets of our solar system. The fair also provide opportunity to
learn the science through fun learning method and create more interest in science
subject generally and create awareness on various careers in space science.
The natural progression of Astronomy Fair is include to reach more students and
general public by organizing this kind of fairs in other major town and schools. We
believe the awareness and important of the knowledge will lead to formation of an
astronomy club be in schools, learning institutions or in civil societies will be
increase.
Objectives
Primary objectives of the Astronomy Fair organized by Malaysian Indian Science
Intellectual are;
1. To Create awareness about the study of astronomy to the public, especially to
the younger generation
2. To help public to have better understanding the importance of our very
own natural resources.
3. 3. To instil an interest on astronomical studies through fun and interactive
activities.

The fair will be held as kick-off activity to encourage participants interest in
astronomy project and encourage formation of more astronomy club in schools and

The fair will be organized at open space at the school ground to encourage to attract
more students and comfortable to conduct various fun learning activities.

Summary
The hands-on and fun learning method knowledge transferring especially on
the subject which less attractive and highly complicated in nature will be an
attractive point to encourage our people to understand better the universe and galaxy
system. The basic knowledge sure will be eye opener to participants and
