1. A student carries out an experiment to study the relationship between the volume of object
immerse in water, V, with the Buoyant force , F.
A uniform shape of metal block is marks and labels with volume . The real weight of metal
block , W, is measured using a spring balance as shown in Diagram 1.1
The reading of spring balance for a real weight, Wo , is shown in Diagram 1.2.

The metal block then is bring and immerse into a beaker contains of water as shown in Diagram 1.3 The
reading shown by spring balance is an apparent depth, Wi, is recorded.
A student start the experiment by immerse the volume of metal block as 1 cm 3 into water and the apparent
weight is recorded as ,Wi , as shown in diagram 1.4
The Buoyant force exerted to the metal block is calculated by using the following
equation;
F = Wo - Wi

A student carried out an experiment to find out the relationship between length, l, and the square
of oscillation period, T2, of a simple pendulum, and to determine the magnitude of gravitational
field strength. The student carried out the experiment with five different length of the pendulum.
The results of the experiment are shown on a graph of T2 against l as in Diagram 2.1
