The French had the upper hand in the first years (1755-1757) stopping an assault on
Louisbourg and overtaking several forts on the frontier (ex. Fort William Henry).

from their homes in Acadia. ( this is the land that the French had to
surrender to the Britain in the loss of The War of Spanish Succession)
At this point the new British Prime Minister, William Pitt, decided to
devote more troops to NA.
The French were winning the war in Europe, so the British hoped to
defeat them in the colonies.
The French did not receive extra support, and the tide of the war
began to turn.
