SETTING UP GLOBAL TT VSAT AT KAGA BANDORO

Requirement
1.
Therefore, there is a requirement to setup the VSAT internet at the new location.
In order to install the facility at our new location, previous setup guide received in
August 2015 was referred (Email copy attached as Anx A). All required steps were taken
to establish the connection. However, connection with the satellite could not be
established. Steps taken have been explained in following paragraphs.
Setting up Latitude and Longitude of Device Modem/Router
2.
After
logging
in
Global
tt
website
login
at
(http://gi.globaltt.com/PageWeb/Products/AllStationSee.aspx) the GPS coordinates of
Kagabandoro were obtained.

3.
These coordinates were fed into the modem using GPS (Position/ Location) Data
Configuration Tool application.

Antenna Alignment Configuration

4.
After feeding required coordinates in the modem, antenna alignment was tried
physically using antenna alignment Azimuth (265.68 degrees), Elevation (25.29
degrees) and Polarization angles (-7.87 degrees):-

5.
It is pertinent to mention here that at 50 meters distance from our location,
Pakistan Engineers Unit has already setup Global tt VSAT at almost same orientation
and their device is working perfectly fine.
6.
Apart from this Satellite Director (an android app) was used to lay the antenna
in correct position. Using this app the satellite was located (Telstar 11N 37.5 W) and its
circular lobe was first checked for centering on Pakistan Engineers Unit Satellite dish
which is already configured correctly and then its circular lobe was centered for our
satellite dish while aligning it on the LNB.
Connection of Modem to Rf In/ Rf Out Cables
7.
After this step the modem was connected using Rf In and Rf Out cables to the
antenna. Both cables were checked for continuity and new cables were laid for this
purpose. The modem was then connected using LAN cable to the PC.
8.
After about 10 minutes the modem connected to the PC and the status of
reception signal was checked using modem IP address http:/10.50.110.193.

9.
After multiple attempts and changing the location of satellite dish, the reception
signal strength never went above 10 db.

Ping test of Router/ Modem

10.
Initially since the modem was taking considerable time to connect to the pc,
therefore PING test was carried out. However after a lapse of 20 minutes and upon
rotation or adjustment of the antenna the device used to reset suddenly due to which
the connection was lost.

Modem Off on Global TT Website

11.
Everytime the website was logged in modem status was found off on the
webpage

Queries

12.
With above stated problems, connection could not be established at Kaga
bandoro. We require guidance on following aspects
a.

Tx, Rx, Sync leds were never flashed. Tx flashes momentarily followed by
router reset. Does it indicate some problem with LNB or modem?

b.

Is there a requirement to reset modem/ router at your end after which it

will be able to receive signals at Kagabandoro. If such requirement exists
kindly make necessary arrangements at your end.

c.

Do you have a representative in Bangui or CAR who can help us by

visiting the site in case the problem persists.

d.

Are we making some mistake in setup which can be rectified.
