"LOW SMOKE AND FIRE"

CABLES
In public places, for example buildings, trains, subways, ships as well as industrial facilities,
electrical cables have to function whilst maintaining a high level of security for people and
material.
In instances of fire these cables have to be manufactured to meet very specific demands.
The cables shall not cause the fire, nor spread it. They shall not emit impenetrable, toxic or
corrosive fumes that could cause damage to equipment or harm to people.
Aware of these potential situations, the AXON research teams are conscious of the need to
design new products that fulfill the following four essential conditions :
1. Non-propagation of flame and fire.
2. Low or no emission of fumes to allow the rescue team to work without visibility problems.
3. No emission of toxic fumes to assure the security of the people detained in the premises
affected by the fire.
4. No emission of corrosive fumes to save equipment and buildings not affected by the fire.
THE TERM "HALOGEN FREE" :

LE DILEMMA
During a fire incident the most dangerous toxic gases emitted are acid gases such as
hydrogen chloride (HCI), hydrogen fluoride (HF) and hydrogen bromide (HBr).
These gases occur during combustion of materials containing halogen materials : Chlorine,
Fluorine, Bromine, Iodine and Astatine.
Consequently, insulation materials of cables should not contain halogen materials in
response to the security requirements.
On the other hand, halogen free materials such as polyethylene or polypropylene present an
adverse reaction to fire : they spread flame and fire. To solve this problem, it is possible to
add halogen materials to increase the flame retardant effect of the insulation .
Other insulation materials are halogen free but emit toxic substances when affected by fire.
THE TERM "LOW SMOKE AND FIRE HAZARD"

(LSFH)
AXON has decided to detail their insulation materials of primary wires and jacketing
according to the problem they might cause when affected by fire. Consistent testing helps to
define the behaviour of the different materials with regard to propagation of the flame, fume
opacity as well as toxicity and corrosivity of the gas emissions.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE

CLAUSE 1 : OFFER AND ORDER ACCEPTANCE
1 Any AXON' offer not accepted within a 60 days delay will
be considered as void.
Any order to AXON' is binding only when acknowledged in
writing.
Any order acknowledged by AXON' is considered as final.
2 Only orders of a value of more than 500 FF will be carried
out by AXON'. In all other cases, the order may be passed
on/to a AXON' retailer.
3 Only the quantities that have actually been delivered will be
invoiced. In the case of a special batch, there may be a
difference of approximately 10 % between the quantity ordered
and the quantity delivered without contestation on the part of
the buyer.
4 AXON' manufacturing processes do not allow the supply of
extremely long, uninterrupted cable lengths. However,
excepting agreement to the contrary, batches delivered will not
include lengths of less than 10 meters.
5 AXON' retains all rights of ownership of studies & projects
carried out on behalf of the buyer.
These cannot be communicated or carried out without AXON'
written agreement.
CLAUSE 2 : PRICES AND TERMS OF PAYMENT

1 Except with agreement to the contrary, AXON' goods are
invoiced according to the prices applicable the day of delivery.
Even if fixed prices have been given, an increase in the price of
raw materials (in particular speculative) will give rise to a final
price correction (eg METAL ADDER). The prices are given taxfree, ex-works, goods not packed and not insured. The
invoicing procedure begins when goods are put at the disposal
of the customer.
2 Invoice payment is carried out at AXON's registered head
office. Payment are made net, without discount and in French
currency. Excepting agreement to the contrary, the payment of
goods will take place 30 days from month of delivery.
3 In the case of non-payment of invoices by the date stated,
the sums due will bear interest at the basic banking rate plus
four points staring from the date of formal notice by registered
letter with receipt.
Furthermore, the non-payment of one invoice at its maturity
renders all others immediately payable after 8 days, beginning
from the formal notice day mentioned above. The non-payment
of one invoice at its maturity gives AXON' the right to deliver all
orders being carried out against immediate settlement.
CLAUSE 3 : DELIVERY
1 Delivery is supposed to be made at AXON's registered
head-office. Consequently, all goods are carried at the total risk
of the purchaser, what ever the form of transport and the
conditions of its payment.
2 Delivery dates indicated by AXON' are for information only.

However AXON' does its utmost to maintain them in every
possible way. Any eventual extension of the delivery time does
not allow the cancellation of orders on the award of damages
within the 6 months following the delivery date originally
indicated. At the end of this period,except in circumstances
beyond the control of AXON', the buyer can cancel the order(s)
made to AXON', it being clear that the cancellation will not
entail the payment of damages on either side. Should the
purchaser not take delivery of the goods within 15 days
following the date on which these goods were placed at his
disposal, the cost of storage will be charged to the purchaser.
3 Costs incurred by the reception in works of merchandise by
the buyer are to be borne entirely by the latter, in particular
travelling expenses, fees and report charges.
4 Any complaint concerning the reception of merchandise,
except in the case of hidden defects, should be lodged within
the 72 hours, and by registered letter only, following the
acceptance of delivery by the purchaser or his representative.
In all circumstances, the guaranty is limited to the replacement
of the goods acknowledged as defective. All other forms of
compensation are excluded.
CLAUSE 4 : SPHERE OF APPLICATION

These terms and conditions of sale govern all AXON' sales,
whether carried out on French metropolitan territory or in any
other country. The acceptance of AXON' offers involves "de
facto" the acceptance of the afore mentioned terms and
conditions of sale.
CLAUSE 5 : APPLICATION OF THE LAW

These terms and conditions of sale will be interpreted and
applied according to French law.
CLAUSE 6 : TERRITORIAL JURIDICTION

Any lawsuit brought about concerning a AXON' sales contract,
whatever its nature, and even in the case of plurality of
defenders or a guaranty appeal, will be under the sole
jurisdiction of the Commercial Tribune of Epernay.
CLAUSE 7 : RIGHT OF RESERVATION OF

PROPERTY
AXON' goods are sold under the suspensive terms of full
payment by the purchaser.
The risks occuring after delivery are to be borne by the
purchaser. The latter will engage to sign all necessary
insurance with a recognized solvent company to guarantee the
delivered goods against all risks, in particular those of loss &
theft. The purchaser will however have the goods at his
disposal before full payment is made.
Consequently, AXON' retains the right to reclaim any goods
which have not been used or resold if the full payment of these
goods is not made. The partial payments already made will
remain the property of AXON' as compensation.
