Authentic Assessment

Describe how a product/ performance was

assessed?

1. Product

Example/s of products/s assessed. How was it/ were

they assessed?
The example of product Test is Paper-mat, the teacher
assessed his/her students through giving first an
instruction about how will going to do the paper- mat

2. Performance(Psychomotor)

Example/s of performance/s assessed. How was it/

were they assessed?

The teacher go around act a facilitator and assistant the

learners to help if they do not know to do . Because they
are Grade VII they act like still elementary.
-The students show the eagerness and enjoyment in
doing the task, while the teacher acts as a facilitator and
assists the learners to help if they have question and
quires.

MY REFLECTIONS
What happens when your assessment method and tool do not match with your
domain of learning?
- If the Assessment method and tool do not match with the domain of learning, it will
give destruction on the learning activities for your students. It will loss all your planning
activities that you have. Theres a possibility that you cannot teach well on your
students. How could you teach if your assessment method and tool do not match, its
useless because you cannot apply on your teaching strategies.

Have we been fair learners to whom we learned are equipped with multiple intelligences
when in the past we only used paper-and- pencil test which was most fit only for the
linguistically intelligent learners?

-Yes, because in our generation today we still use paper-pencil Test during assessment.
Being a future Teacher someday we need to know the different strategies and learning
styles of our students. Every student has their own intelligences skills we can measure it
not only in paper-pencil test but in other way.

MY REFLECTION

Perhaps even without a scientific survey, you agree that most of the assessments that
take place in school are in the low levels of recalling, knowledge, and retrieval. What
can be reasons behind this?
-I agree, because w/out scientific survey we dont know if the assessments we use in
school are relevant to the knowledge level of the students. Themain reason of this
maybe the low level of their knowledge that can cause of non- effective teaching of the
teachers. So we must be having a scientific survey for the involving the students
learning.

We measure what we value and we value what we measure. Then we have to assess
what we value and value what we assess. What is one message of Blooms revised
cognitive taxonomy, Kendlls and Marzanos new taxonomy of objectives to teachers
regarding the assessment process?

-The message of Blooms taxonomy revised cognitive taxonomy.Rendalls and

marzanos new taxonomy of objectives to teachers regarding the assessment process it
should in step by step process. In Blooms revised taxonomy there is step by step
process on how to assess our student. We should do this in order to help our students.

MY REFLECTION
Read this conversation and reflect on teachers assessment practices.
Write your reflection here.
But we only talk about Puerto Princesa
For-like 2 seconds last week. Why would she put that on the exam?
You know how teachers are theyre always trying to trick you.
Yes, they find the most nit-picky little details to put on their
Tests dont even care if the information is important.
Its just not fair. I studied everything we discussed in class about the Philippines and
the things
She made a big deal about, like comparing the Philippines and the things
She made a big deal about, like comparing the Philippines
And to think all she asked was WHAT CAPITAL OF SINGAPORE IS?
Really? Grrrrr

Did you have a similar experience? Reflect on it.

-Yes, I have a similar experience when in the conversation. I studied all the important
lessons that our teacher discussed but during the exam I was shocked because the
items in the test are those that are not relevant and are trivial matters. My reflection
about it is that teachers should give tests or assessment according to what they have
taught to the learners. Giving poor and tricky tests is very unfair for the learners.
Teacher must consider and evaluate the tests according to the learners capacity before
giving it.Teacher must only include those important and thoroughly taught lessons in
giving the test. Teachers should give assessment in a real-world application and not on
out-of-context drills.

6. Reflections

MY REFLECTION

1. Have portfolio made the learning assessment process inconvenient? Is the effort
exerted on portfolio assessment commensurate to the improvement of learning
that result from the use of portfolio?
-Portfolio made the learning Assessment process because it help a lot on how
we judge and prove the learning performance of our students. It also help student
on how they assess their own works

2. Can showcase portfolio be assessment portfolios as well?

-Yes, showcase portfolios can be assessing portfolios because it is the way that the
teacher can assess his/her students through their learning performance.

3. Can development or growth portfolios be assessment portfolios?

-Yes, because portfolios be assessment portfolios because they are having similarity to
the assessment portfolios.

LEARNING EPISODE 7
ON SCORING RUBRICS
MY MAP

MY LEARNING ACTIVITIES
INTERVIEW
Interview of my resource Teachers
1. Where do you use the scoring rubrics? (students outputs or products and student
activities).
-As a Teacher I used the scoring rubrics through my student performance, output
and product.

2. What help have scoring rubrics given you? When there were no scoring rubrics yet,
what did you use?
-Using scoring rubrics help us to solve the grade of
Our students easily

3. What difficulties have you met in the use of scoring rubrics?

-I have met in using the scoring rubrics on how to solve grades

4. Do you make use of holistic and analytic rubrics? How do they differ?
-In my case I used the k to 12 grading system which is the holistic and analytic
rubrics.

MY REFLECTIONS

Can rubrics help make students to become self-directed or independent learners? Do

rubrics contribute to the assessment AS learning (self-assessment). What if there were
no rubrics?

-Yes, rubrics help students become self-directed independent learners because it

measured the knowledge, skills abilities of the students performance. Rubrics is series
of statement describing a range levels of achievements of a process, production or
performance of the students become self-directed or independent learners. Rubrics
contribute the assessment as learning so much, because in assessment As Learning
measure on how the performance of student become successful of their performance.
- For us as a future educator rubrics is helpful for us. If were no rubrics we didnt
know the performance of our students if it is effective or not.
We cant measure the learning performance of our students.

THE K TO 12 GRADING SYSTEM

MY MAP
MY LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Activity 1; Interview of Resource Teacher
1. What are the bases for grading system?
The bases for grading are the written works, performance task and
quarterly assessment.

2. How do you compute grades per quarter for grades 1 to 10 and Grades 11 to
12. Give an example.
Using written woks-20%
Performanc-60%
Exam-20%
3. How do you compute grades at the end of the school year?
-Computing grades by adding the 1st to 4th quarter and divided it by 4 to get the
final rating of the students.
4. What description and grading scale are used in reporting progress of learners?
-Using letter grade and remedial values.
5. What are the basis for learners promotion and retention at the end of the school
year?
-Using their report cards and their form 137 for their promotion.

6. What is the report on learners, observed values

-Their character traits sho on their report card.
Activity 2: Interview of 5 students

1. What do you like in the new grading system?

What I like in the new grading system is that it gives fair and good
opportunity for the assessment of learners cognitive psychomotor and
affective domains. It not only focuses on the cognitive skills of the learners but
also to their performance on actual situations.

2. Do you have problems with the new grading system?

I dont have problems with the new grading system it is because it more
considerate than the previous grading system. It also considers the abilities of
the learners not only the intellect.

3. Does the new grading system give you a better picture of your
performance?
-Yes, the new grading system give me a better picture of my performance
because the assessment are good. It motivates me to do more in my
studies.

Activity 3: Grade Computation

Show sample computation of a grade in a subject of your choice either from
grades 1 to 10 of from grade 11 to 12. Show the percentage contribution of

MY REFLECTIONS
In an era where the emphasis is self-directed learning, demonstration of knowledge,
skills and value learned (outcome-based education) do grades really matter?

-In an era where the emphasis is on outcome-based education grade still really
matter because it will serve as an evaluation

What are your thoughts about the reflection of core values of Filipino child in the
Report Card?
-The reflection of core values of the Filipino child in the Report Card is a good idea
and a great thing. With this, learners will be encouraged because they will know what
core values he has. It will also serve as a self-assessment for the learners affective
domain. It is right that learners must be given good feedback their behaviour in school.

Points for Improvement

-Learners should be given more hands-on and actual to enhance their performance.
Teacher should give appropriate tests that are related to the context of the lesson.
Teachers should specify in detail their feedback about the learners performance and
values in school.
