Dynamo: A DC Motor and a DC Generator.

A DC motor receives direct electric current and produces mechanical
shaft rotation. The same identical machine is able to reverse the process of
energy conversion: receiving mechanical rotation of an outside host and
produce direct electrical current. When the machine is working in this direction,
mechanical input and electrical output, its called generator. In other words, a
DC motor and DC generator are the same machine, but operating in a manner
contrary.
Like a DC machine unplugged is not necessarily a motor, or necessarily a
generator, a word to refer to the generic machine is needed. That word is
dynamo. When is a dynamo disconnected from DC, anyone imagine, "I can
make that dynamo as a motor, or can be used as a generator, as he needs."
To understand the action of the dynamo, we must remember Faraday's
Law and Lenz's Law. In general, Faraday's Law states that when a loop of wire
(like a coil) is subjected to a magnetic flux that varies in time, it induce or
generate a voltage. On the other hand, Lenz's law says that if forced rotation
causes the decreased flow through the coil, it must induce a voltage polarity
try to circulating electric current in the direction making an "internal" flow
assist the outflow.
The Dynamo plays an increasingly important role in modern industry that
can operate at any speed from zero to its maximum speed and keep it there
very accurately. For example, The rolling steel mills are high-speed, multistage, would not be possible without dc motors. Each stage must be kept
precisely at exactly, that is greater than the previous step, to accommodate
the reduction in thickness of the steel at this stage and maintain the correct
voltage on the steel between stages.
Read the text and Answer the Questions:
1. How does a DC motor work? How does a DC generator work?

2. What does mean dynamo?

3. What Faraday's law says?

4. What Lenz's law says?

5. Explain an example of an application of dynamo in modern
industry.

Dnamo: Un motor y un
generador de CD.
Un motor de cd recibe
corriente elctrica directa y produce
rotacin mecnica del eje. La misma
e idntica mquina es capaz de
invertir el proceso de conversin de
energa: recibir rotacin mecnica
de una mquina externa y producir
corriente elctrica directa. Cuando
la
mquina
trabaja
en
esta
direccin, entrada mecnica y salida
elctrica, se llama generador. En
otras palabras, un motor de cd y un
generador de cd son la misma
mquina, pero funcionando en
forma contraria.
Como una mquina de cd
desconectada no necesariamente es
un motor, ni necesariamente un
generador, se necesita una palabra
para
referirse
a
la
mquina
genrica. Esa palabra es dnamo.
Cuando
se
ve
una
dnamo
desconectado de cd uno se imagina:
puedo hacer que ese dnamo
funcione como un motor, o la puedo
usar como un generador, segn lo
necesite.

precisa. Por ejemplo, Las fabricas
laminadoras de acero que son de
alta velocidad y de varias etapas, no
seran posibles sin los motores de
cd. Cada etapa debe mantenerse
precisamente a una velocidad
exacta, que es mayor que la etapa
precedente, para adaptarse a la
reduccin del grosor del acero en
esa etapa y mantener el voltaje
correcto en el acero entre etapas.
