The Beatitudes-Matthew 5:1-12

Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

If anyone loves this world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world,
the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And
the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides
forever (1 Jn 2.1517).
Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but
worldly grief produces death. For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in
you (2Cor 7.911).
Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.

Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke
upon you and learn from Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for
your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light (Mt 11.2730).
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

But one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind, and straining forward to what lies
ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Let those of us who are mature be thus minded. (Phil 3.1316).
Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.

Love your enemies and do good and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your
reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for He is kind to the
ungrateful and the selfish. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful (Lk 6.3536).
(Exodus 34:6-7)
Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is sound, your body will be full of light;
but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light
that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! (Mt 7.2223).
Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge
yourself, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will
repay, says the Lord (Lev 19.18, Deut 32.35). No, if your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his
head (Prov 25.21- 22). Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good
(Rom 12.1821).
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My
sake.

Remember the word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his master. If
they persecute Me, they will persecute you; if they have kept My word, they will keep
yours also. But all this they will do to you on My account, because they do not know
Him who sent Me (Jn 15.2021).
Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets
who were before you.

We rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our
sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces
character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because
Gods love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been
given to us (Rom 5.25).
