Nowadays due to globalization in each and every field has changed the view and mind-sets of wander
as well as of customer for products and services. So due to such competition in market accuracy pays
important role to get compatible and consumer reliable product. For that today the world has ISO
system that helps us to achieve such standardized product and system. More over standards plays
important role in international market as well as in trading and giving some good advantages to
organizations in some area of field. Not only this but also It provides references that are acceptable
and recognized globally and also enhance fait competition in free market economies. It also provides
product quality, reliability as well as interoperability and compatibility, greater ease of maintenance
and reduces the cost. It also helps many companies to access new markets, level the playing field for
developing nations. On the top of this, each and every field such as mechanical, electrical, IT, civil
has their own ISO standard.

Today the world has abreast organization is known as ISO ( International Organization For
Standardization ) began in 1926 as the International Federation of The National Standardizing
Associations (IAS). In those days it completely focused on mechanical engineering and then in 1946
the table has turned and re-organized by the name ISO. It is also a organization that has several
members whose are recognized as standard authorities from each and every country. It has 2700
technical committees, sub-committees and working groups. ISO has published more then 21000
international standards which cover all most all aspect of technology and manufacturing. The ANSI
(American National Standards Institute) is the US representative to ISO. Also ANSI ASC Z-1/ASQ
groups represents the ISO Technical Committees 176 and 207 that is concerned with the ISO 9000
and ISO 14000 standards respectively.

There are many popular ISO standards and each stands for particular field such as ISO 9000 (Quality
Management), ISO 14000 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and
Safety), ISO 5001 (Energy Management), etc. Although ISO 9000 works with whole management of
organization and ISO 14000 with environmental effects, both are interlinked and, concerned with
process and make two series into one series combination. ISO 9000 and 9001 enhance the customer
satisfaction and achieve continual improvement of products performance. As same as ISO 14000 and
14001 minimizes the harmful effects on the environment and achieve improvement in its
performance. ISO does not carry out or approve accreditations. At the last but not the least that, there
are many other standards in ISO family that can help an organization on specific aspect such as
auditing and training. The interesting thing in ISO is that each and every new standard has to go
through six stage process before being a part of ISO such as proposal stage, preparatory stage,
committee stage that follows by enquire stage, lower stage and final approval & publication stage.
