Darana of r Guru
Having the darana of Gurudeva [sad-guru], truly seeing
Gurudeva, means to receive his mercy. We see Gurudeva with
these eyes, however if Gurudeva casts his merciful glance on
us, whereby we can realise what his real svarpa is, that he is a
mah-bhgavata then it should be understood that we are very
fortunate. Otherwise we should consider ourselves unfortunate.
Guru means heavy, not light. If someone obtains the darana
of such a sad-guru then it is understood that good fortune has
arisen for him. We are not speaking of seeing the external body
constituted of blood, flesh and bones. Darana is not seeing
the external form of guru. To see the gurus real form, his real
svarpa, and how dear he is to Ka, that is guru-darana. That
is not material darana, but transcendental, spiritual darana,
aprkta-darana. If someone can see how the gaura-karuakt, the mercy potency of Gaura, is moving in him, that is the

darana of guru. One who can see this is very, very fortunate.
That is good fortune.
Guru means he is very merciful. He is very tolerant. He always
excuses our innumerable apardhas, offences. He is very, very
merciful to all jvas. He is very dear to Ka. ri Guru is a most
dear and intimate associate of Ka. He has come here to give
us Ka. He gave us Ka. What do we receive from him? We
receive faith. He gives us faith in Ka, ka-raddh, taste
in ka-kath, ka-kath ruci, and the invaluable wealth
of ka-prema. That is the real darana of guru. He is always
looking at us with merciful eyes. He has taken up this resolution
to deliver us from our most fallen position.
Prior to the darana of r Guru we were ill-fated, we had bad
fortune. The day we met r Guru, sad-guru, good fortune arose.
If someone has the opportunity to meet such a guru then he
begins to be freed of material bondage. When material bondage
is destroyed then he has the opportunity to have the darana of
r Guru, mahtma, mah-bhgavata. That person is bhgyavn,
he is very, very fortunate. The ill-fated jva, having already
wandered through lakhs and lakhs of brahmas experiencing
only misfortune, becomes fortunate by the darana of a mahbhgavata, ka-preha; a dear devotee of Ka.
In this material word one may think his material desires are
fulfilled when he meets the President of the State, Chief Minister
or Prime Minister, O, I am very fortunate. No, this is not
good fortune. We are not speaking of this fortune. There is no
language to convey the fortune arising from meeting guru. Up
until now a person may have been a karm or a jn or bhog or
tyg, however now, meeting sad-guru, he becomes ka-dsa.
This is good fortune. Then one is situated in his constitutional
position, becoming ka-dsa. This is good fortune. This is sva8

Ka is situated in everyones heart as the caittyaguru, the spiritual master within. When He is kind to
some fortunate conditioned soul, He personally gives
him lessons so he can progress in devotional service,
instructing the person as the Supersoul within and the
spiritual master without. (Caitanya-caritmta, Madhyall 22.47)

dsa, the svarpa, the real identity of the jva is eternal servant
of Ka. The nitya-siddha bhva, the eternal perfect love, prti,
bhakti, prema-bhakti, is in the jva but it is covered over. How
will the covering be removed? How will bhakti manifest?
If you get guru-kp, the mercy of guru, the covering is lifted
and bhakti will manifest. It is not that bhakti is not in the jva. It
is in the jva, however it is not manifest, it is covered. Gurudeva
only uncovers it. He causes its manifestation, nothing else. One
who is able to do so, he is guru. He is a mah-bhgavata. By his
mercy we obtain the seed of the bhakti creeper. He has come to
deliver me and relieve me from my distress and unhappiness.
This bhva arises in the heart on seeing the guru.

makes it manifest, uncovers it. Gurudeva is wealthy in bhaktidhana, not material wealth.
A Great Revolution
Guru cameand gave darana, however I am most unfortunate;
I could not see him. This is most unfortunate. Try to understand
what I am trying to say. It is very deep philosophy. Upon seeing
him it is automatic, it is spontaneous that such bhva arises in
the heart to surrender unto him, to serve him. Then it is to be
understood that that jva is a bhgyavan-jva, a very fortunate
jva. By hearing from him, coming in touch with him, associating
with him and listening to his kath, a faithless person becomes
faithful, faith arises in his heart. He gets a new life. This is a
very great incident in ones life. This is a great revolution in the
life. The flow of his life is completely reversed. The flow was
channelled towards the material world or towards the objects of
enjoyment. Now the flow is channelled towards Ka.
To see r Guru and sad-guru is a great revolution in life.
Whatever you may be, an atheist, a scientist or a philosopher,
if you are fortunate to see sad-guru, then your life will be
completely changed. A new flow is there. This is bhgya, this is
real good fortune. If there is no good fortune, one cannot have
darana of sad-guru. Therefore it is said: brahma bhramite
kona bhgyavn jva, guru-ka-prasde pya bhakti-lat bja
[Cc. Madhya 19.151].

Prabhupda has taught us what other gurus are not able to, what
other gurus do not know.
They only want prama and pram, worship and money.
Therefore they have no ability to take to this path of devotional
service and teach others how to tread the path. They have no
ability to move there. Whereas rla Prabhupda made nice
arrangements for ravaa, krtana, arcana and vandana.
That is his causeless mercy.

24-hours going on. Come and participate. You will get so much
pleasure, so much joy and blissfulness. See the very beautiful
r-vigraha, chant and dance before r-vigraha, and hear kakath. Taste this nice sweet, nectarean ka-prasda, mahprasda. Your life will be successful and you will be relieved of
all your suffering, and unhappiness. rla Prabhupda made all
these arrangements so we could follow this path of devotion.

The Embodiment of Kas Mercy
Vaiavas appear
and disappear in
the same way the
Supreme Lord and
His innumerable
incarnations appear and disappear.
The appearance and
disappearance day
of a Vaiava is as
auspicious as the
appearance day of
the Supreme Lord.
These days give us
an opportunity to glorify such a devotee. A Vaiava is always
to be glorified. He has left indestructible fame and glory here.
His fame is not only chanted in the material world, it is also
chanted in the spiritual world. His glories are chanted everywhere. One who glorifies such a Vaiava receives the mercy
of that Vaiava, and his good fortune arises.
