PART I: LEVEL OF PREPAREDNESS ON DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT


UNDERTAKEN BY THE SCHOOLS
Direction: The following listed below are the activities to be done or
prepared by your school on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. A 3
point scale is used to gauge the degree of your compliance in the
activities listed below. Please check (/). The scaled number that best
reflect your level of preparedness. Scaled numbers mean the following:

A. On the preparation of the Disaster Risk Reduction Plan


ACTIVITIES
1. Consider
the
risk
assessment
information
(baseline and background data of the school and
the community in relation to the different
hazzards School Mapping Information).
2. Assess the condition of the school buildings
and other structures/classroom of the school.
3. Assess the personnel and material resources of
the school and community to undertake risk
reduction and measures.
4. Assess the needs of the faculty and community
in planning for the training on disaster risk
reduction.
5. Involve the teachers, community and other
stakeholders in the preparation of the Disaster
Risk Reduction Plan.
6. Coordinate with NGOs, INGOs, agencies and other
stakeholders to assist in developing the
Disaster Risk Reduction Program.
7. Clearly identify in the school and community
map safe places where the school and the
community
can
go
in
case
of
particular
emergencies
such
as:
flood,
typhoon,
earthquake, fire, bombings, etc.
8. Clearly identify the persons and agencies to
call for assistance in case of emergencies and
how to contact them and who to contact.
9. Clearly define the roles of the teachers and
members of the organize School Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management group in case of
emergencies.

10.Include general guidelines of what to do before,


during and after the different kinds of disaster
impacts experience in the location.
11.Include in the plan the schedule of activities, like
trainings, drills, reinforcing building repairs and
etc. to prepare the school and the school community
for any eventuality.
12.Disseminate the Disaster Risk Reduction Plan to the
school, community and other stakeholders.
B. On Organization of the School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
Group.
ACTIVITIES

1. Assess the leadership qualitie, training, nd


expertise of the teachers designated to form
the following teams: First Aid Team; Fire
Safety
Team;
Communication
Team;
Building
Safety Team; Evacuation Team; and Site Security
Team.
2. Organize an Incident Command System in the
school that can be activate in times of
emergency with major organizational functions
such as: Incident Command; Operation; Planning;
Logistics; Finance/Administration; and Strike
Teams.
3. Define the rules and functions of each team and
its members.
4. Conduct capability training to all members of
the school DRRMG.
5. Identify the persons responsible to coordinate
with
NGOs,
INGOs,
agencies
and
other
stakeholders in times of emergency.
C. On preparation of the School Disaster Risk Reduction Measures.
ACTIVITIES
1. Follow the guidelines for preparedness and
prevention (before), response (during) and
recovery (after) measures as listed in the
Disaster Risk Reduction Manual or Safer Schools
Resource Manual.
2. Adapt the assessment and reporting forms and
surveys to the problems and needs of the school
and the locality relative to disaster.
3. Sought the assistance of the local governments,
the
parents,
NGOs,
INGOs,
and
other
stakeholders
in
preparing
the
school
to
withstand disasters.

4. Establish and maintain standing agreements with


the NGOs, INGOs, Communication, Transportation
and agencies that can give assistance before,
during and after.
5. Document and file all the chronological events
during a disaster for future reference.
6. Equip with the survival kits, equipment,
materials and supplies needed in times of
disaster.
7. Identify exits and evacuation sites known to
the school community.
8. Undertaken provisions to ensure continuity of
instruction.
9. Exerts effort to protect DepEd properties
(building, fixtures and equipment and records).
PART II: Availability of Disaster Risk Reduction Facilities/Materials
Directions: The following listed below are the Disaster Risk Reduction
facilities/materials. A 3 point scale is used to measure the availability
of DRR Facilities/Materials listed below. Please check (/) the scaled
number of the availability of these materials in your school. Scaled number
