About Association of innovation and Mectra Engineers
Association of Innovation and Mectra Engineers is the organization which focuses on the
development of the engineers throughout the national as well as international level. We are
here for the development of the engineering student in different felids which includes
technical, scientific, managerial and innovation. We provide such platform to the student
where they can choice their field of interest and work for a better future. We are the
backbone for all the engineering streams and one of the leading organization in India.
AIME have a dream of better world for the engineering student where they can
learn and innovate thing according to their dreams, because we believe no dream is too big
to achieve we should just have potential to make it true.

About Dynamic karting Challenge
Dynamic karting challenge is the Design and fabrication event which is going to organized by the
Association of Innovation and Mectra Engineers in the first time of Indian history. In DKC the
graduate and undergraduate engineering student can participate by designing and fabricating their
own go kart. This competition will consist of several stages of test where the go kart fabricated
by the student will go through several test. After qualifying the tests successfully, the vehicles will
have a final race. All the team participated in the event are free to design and fabricate their go
kart according to their imagination but also considering the rules and regulation which is provided by
the AIME for student safety. The manufacturing of vehicle should be done by students only. No
professional engineer or faculty should involve in the manufacturing or by the time of preparation of
document related to vehicle. Proof of manufacturing (video / photograph) can be asked by the
organizing committee at any time of event. Professionally fabricated vehicle can be penalized or
disqualified from the event. The decision of the organizing committee will be final for this regards.

Article A3: Team Requirement


A3.1: Team Requirement: The team must have a Team Name, Team Logo, Team Captain and the
Faculty Facilitator for registration in Dynamic Karting Challenge 2016. There must be at least
six (6) members in a team. There cannot be more than twenty members in a team under any
circumstances.

A3.2: Team Name: Every team should have unique and motivational team name.
A3.3: Team Logo: Every team should have attractive and impressive team logo.
A3.4: Discipline: All the team members must be from engineering diploma/degree. S tudents
passing out in year 2016 are also allowed to participate in the event.

A3.5: Drivers Age: Each team should have two drives must be above 18 yrs of age at the time of
event.

A3.6: Drivers license: Each driver must have valid driving license (Four wheeler) which can be
verified at any time of the event.

A3.7: Medical Insurance: Each driver must have valid medical insurance at the time of event.

Article A4: Registration requirement


A4.1: Team registration: Team can register them self through our website www.aimeindia.in round
the clock from 30 th August, 2015 to 5 th October, 2015. Once the team is registered the payment
must be done with in the Five (5) working days from the date of registration.

A4.2: Registration Conformation: once the team is successfully registered and payment
conformed. The registration form must be filled properly and signed by HOD or director of the college.
Team must send the soft copy of filled registration form and the scan copy of the payment slip on the
info.aimeindia@gmail.com as soon as possible. Once the team Registration is conformed they will
receive a conformation letter from AIME.

A4.3: Registration Fee: Team registration fees of Rs.8000 Only.

A4.5: Refund Policy: The registration amount must be submitted into Five (5) working days. Once
the registration fee is submitted it in not refundable or may not be transferred to a subsequent year's
competition.

Article A5: Faculty adviser


A5.1: Faculty advisor status: Each team is expected to have a Faculty Advisor appointed by the
university. The faculty advisor is expected to accompany the team to the competition and will be
considered by competition officials to be the official university representative.

A5.2: Responsibilities: Faculty Advisors are expected to advise their teams on general engineering
and engineering project management theory.

A5.3: Limitations: Faculty advisors may not design any part of the vehicle nor directly participate in

the development of any documentation or presentation. Faculty Advisors may neither fabricate nor
assemble any components nor assist in the preparation, maintenance, testing or ope ration of the
vehicle.

Article A6: Judging categories & Prize Money
There is final round in the event where participating teams will be judge by different stages.
In Final Round the selected teams will be coming on the event site with the vehicle
fabricated by them and will have to undergo a different stages and will be awarded the
points accordingly. Technical Inspection and Brake Test are two tests for which no team
will get points. But passing these both tests is essential; no teams will be allowed to perform
further in any of the dynamic events without passing in these tests.

Part B: Technical Requirement


Article B1: Design requirement
B1.1: Structure of Chassis: The Vehicle must have four wheels and that wheels should not be in a
straight line. Teams are free to use any type of frame for construction of the go kart. Basic Go kart
frame is shown in the figure below:

B1.2: Wheelbase and track Width: The go karts must have a wheel base or length at least
42 inches. The smaller Track width of the go kart must be the 80% of the wheelbase and team are
free to decide larger track width.

B1.3: Material of the chassis frame: Team must use the seamless tube or rectangular pipe for the
fabrication of the chassis frame or other parts like bumper etc. The teams are free to use any
diameter of pipe but should consider the weight of the go kart. Pipe or tube used for fabricating the
vehicle must be certified. The certification of the material must be shown at the time of Technical
inspection.

B1.4: Ground Clearance: The ground clearance of the go kart will be measured along with the
driver. There must be a minimum 25.4mm (1 in) ground clearance from the lowest part of the go kart
under the static condition.

B1.5: Jack Point: There must be two jack points in a go kart. One jack point at the front and the

other one at the rear portion. The color of the jack point must be orange so it would be visible clearly
to the judges. The jack point must be equally distributed to both the side from the center line of the
vehicle.
B1.6: Bumper (Front and Rear): Every go kart must have bumper at the front and the rear portion
which should be cover tire to protect them from the collision during the track event. The material of
the bumper must be seamless tube which have outer diameter of 1 inch. No joint should be there on
the bumper.

B1.7: Toe Point: There should be two toe points on the go kart one at the front and the other at the
rear. These toe point must be painted with orange color so it would be visible to the judges easily.

Article B2: Suspension system:


Teams are free to use any type of suspension system but the used suspension system must be in
the proper working condition and it must be installed in the front as well as in the rear portion of the
go kart. There must be 1-inch jounce and 1-inch bounce that is total 2-inch travel of the suspension
system.

Article B3: Steering system:


B3.1: Steering system: The steering must be installed in such a way that it controls at least two

wheels at a time. Steering system must be mechanical connected. No electrically actuated or steer
by wire mechanism should be used. Teams are free to use any kind of steering system and there is
no restriction for the steering ratio as well.

B3.2: Steering Wheel: The steering wheel must be a continuous perimeter. The H shape or any

other shape of steering wheel is strictly prohibited. No team will get TI ok without proper use of
steering wheel. The allowable free play for the steering wheel will be 7 Degree. There must be a
positive steering stop which prevents the tire from contacting the suspension or any other part of the
go kart.

B3.2: Maximum Turning Radius: Maximum turning radius for every go kart must be is 3.5 m. Every
go kart has to clear skid pad test before proceeding for dynamic events.

Article B4: Braking system:


B3.1: Brake Requirement: The go kart must have efficient braking system which is capable of

stopping the vehicle without losing control. Teams are free to install the braking system either front
or rear portion of the vehicle. Braking by electrical system must not be installed. Team can use any
type of barking paddle which should be mounted properly so it wont shatter at the time of applying
brake. There must not be any linkage form the brake cylinder or any other part of braking system.

B3.2: Brake over travel switch: A brake over travel switch must be installed in a go kart to stop the

engine in case of brake failure. So that the go kart can be controlled at the time of brake system
failure.

B3.3: Brake Light: Team can use any type of brake light but it must be red in color and visible in the

bright sun light. The brake light must be installed in such a manner so that it must shine directed
towards the ground at least a distance of 10 meter.

Article B5: Tires and wheel:

Teams are free to use any of the tires according to their requirement of the design. Any modification
into the wheel or tire is strictly prohibited.

Article B6: Engine and transmission:


B6.1: Engine Type: The teams are free to use any type of Engine. But the maximum capacity do not
exceeds 127cc.

B6.2: Throttle paddle: There must be foot paddle installed in the kart to operate the engine with a
positive stop. Hand operated lever is strictly prohibited.

B6.3: Transmission requirement: Teams are free to use any type of transmission system.
B6.4: Fuel tank position: The fuel tank capacity must not exceed 7liters of volume. The fuel tank

must be properly placed at a distance from engine and battery. It must be mounted properly with the
chassis. The fuel pipe must be installed in such a manner so that it must not have any contact with
the engine part or any other part which can harm it. There must be no leakage in the fuel tank as
well as in the pipe.

B7.13: Firewall: Firewall must be made up of a suitable material which can protect drive for the
heat of the engine and separates the driver compartment form the engine compartment. It should be
made in such a manner that it covers the whole body part of the driver which can be get affected by
the engine heat or fire at any time of the track event.

B7.8: Exhaust System: The teams are free to any exhaust system with modification or without
modification. The exhaust system must be properly shielded so heat emits form the exhaust system
prevent no harm to any of the engine part. The exhaust system must be mounted properly to avoid
the physical contact with the judges or the viewers. Proper shielding must be done for the exhaust
system no cotton or jute rope should be used for shielding of Exhaust.

Article B7: Vehicle Requirements & Restrictions:


B7.1: Bodywork: The bodywork of the go kart must be designed in such a manner so that the
vehicle number and the AIME logo must be visible clearly.

B7.2: Rear View Mirror: The team must have installed the rear view mirror in both the sides of the
driver. No go kart will receive TI ok without the proper rear mirrors.

B7.3: Base Plate: Every go kart must have equipped with the base plate which protect the driver
from the track debris. Base plate must cover the go kart completely from front end of the kart to the
rear part of the driver seat.

B7.4: Lock Nuts: No team will get TI ok for the event until they use the locking nuts everywhere in
the go karts.

B7.5:Fire Extinguisher: Every team must have installed 1kg of 2(two) fire extinguisher into their go

kart One extinguisher should be placed for the driver and one should be placed for the team
members at the time of dynamic event. Fire extinguisher should be working in condition.

B7.6: Weight of the vehicle: The overall weight of the vehicle should not be more than 200kg
without the driver.

B7.7: Driver Seat (Modified): Every team must have proper go kart seat. The mounting of the seat
must be rigid enough and should not loss at the dynamic event. The driver seat must be mounted at
least 2 inches away from the firewall. Strictly prohibited to use modified driver seat.

B7.8: Driver Seat Belt (Modified): The teams are strictly prohibited to do any modification with the

driver seat belt. Seat belt of the driver must be tightening enough to keep driver safe at the time of
collision during the track event.

Article B8: Electrical components


B8.1: General Electrical System: The electrical system must have two kill switches, batteries,
reverse light alarm in it.

B8.2: Batteries: Batteries must be mounted properly and not come loose during the dynamic event.
There should be not be any contact of battery with the exhaust or fuel system.

B8.4: Path for Wires and Pipes: No electrical wire must go under the chassis of the go kart it is
strictly prohibited. If any team found avoiding this rule can be disqualify from the event.

B8.5: Kill Switches: Each go kart must be having two (2) kill switches which should be easily
accessible for the driver which can kill all the electrical system of the go kart. The Kill switch does not
kill the Brake Light. One of the kill switch must be rigidly mounted near the steering wheel and other
one on the left hand side of the go kart.
B8.6: Reverse Light and Alarm: The go kart must have reverse light whose shine must be visible to
the rear driver in case of reverse and the alarm must be engaging at the time of reverse. On the
reverse light there must be a label of AIME R available.

Article B9: Driver requirements


B9.1: Driver helmet: Every team must have a closed helmet which can protect the driver from the
track debris. The helmet should be SFI rating no other helmet are allowed for the dynamic event.
Open face helmet is strictly prohibited. The team must have their helmet at the time of TI else they
will not get TI Ok.

B9.2: Driver suite: Every team must have Fire prove one-piece driver suit which must be made from
one layer that covers the neck, ankles and wrists. The driver suit must be SFI rated (SFI 3.2A or
higher).

B9.3: Underclothing: The driver must were fire resistant underclothing under the SFI rated driver
suite. The underclothing must be made up of fire prove material which cover the driver from neck
down to ankles and wrist also.

B9.4: neck Support: All the team must have neck support which should be SFI rated. Simpson, RCI,
G Force or leaf racing product provides the neck collars which are allowed in the event.

B9.5: Shoes, Gloves and Shocks:

Team driver must have the high ankle shoes which should be fire prove and made up of fire
prove material and certified form SFI Rates (SFI 3.3, FIA 8856- 2000)

Gloves must be of latter with extra foam will be allowed for the event.

Fire resistances shocks will be acceptable for the event which should be made up of fire
prove material.

B9.6: Balaclava: Every Team must have balaclava with them to protect drivers head, hair and neck
which should be fire prove. The balaclava must be made up of the fire resistance material.

Part C: Final Round


Final Round: Final Round is divided in three different stages; Static Test, Dynamic Test and the
Endurance Test . The team participating in the final round is suggested to take hard copy of all the
documents and reports at the time of these tests, Judges can ask for any document to show at any
time of the test and failure for this will lead for the penalty for the respective test.

Article C1: Statics Tests
C1.1: Design Report: The go kart will be verified by the final design report in the event.
C1.2: Business Plan & Cost report: This is a presentation round in which teams will need to

present their business plan considering their team as a manufacturer company of the go kart and
cost report on the manufacturing of their Go kart. In the Business plan teams Marketing and
Business strategies will be judge. Here team need to prove how they are going to establish a
manufacturing company which will full fill the demand of the market of racing vehicles.
The cost report will be judge by verifying the parts mention in the cost report and the parts
applied into the go kart. The cost in the report must not very from the actual cost. Every team must
have a hard copy of report at the time Presentation.

C1.3: Manufacturing Level: The go kart will be examined by the judge at the time of Dynamic
event. So the teams are suggested to manufacture the go kart with a strategies so that the go kart
would be able to compete the different stages of the final round.

C1.4: Questionnaire: In this test the judges will examine the go kart and throw question on any of
the team member. So, it is advised to the participating team for the test that they must well prepare
with the Go.

C1.5: Innovation: Hear if any team is having innovation applied in the go kart needs to present

innovation report at the time of explaining the innovation. The innovation should be wo rking and not
just the concept and its working will be judge by the Technical Inspectors.

Article C2: Technical Inspection:


Before Entering for the dynamic event team must go for the Technical Inspection round where the
Technical inspector will judge the go kart either it is manufactured with the AIME Rules and
Regulation or not. The team only can go for the next round after clearing the Technical Inspection
round. Technical Inspection does not carry any point but every team must clear this round for
entering into the event. The will get 5 chances to clear their Technical Inspection within the time
limit.

C2.1: Safety Equipments: Every team which are performing any manufacturing or repairing work

on the site are advised to use proper safety equipments. Safety equipments will be checked by
Technical Inspector during Technical Inspection.

C2.2: Driver Exit Time: This is the maximum time for a driver to come out from the kart. Within the
10 sec. the driver must exit the go kart.

Article C3: Break and Acceleration test


C3.1: Brake Test: Brake test carry no points but it is mandatory for a go kart to pass the brake
test to participate in any of the dynamic events. In the break test the go kart must stop in a straight
line after the brake is applied on the paddle. A go kart will get Four (4) chance to clear the break test.
If the go kart complete its break test in the first round it will not get any other chance. At the time of
breaking the go kart must have the speed of 40kmph.if go kart is found unstable in the break test
its TI will be canceled at the same time and the kart go far the TI again.

C3.2 Acceleration Test: In the Acceleration test the minimum time will be counted to complete
the 100ft (30.48m) on the track.

Procedure- The acceleration test will evaluated during the brake test. Acceleration of the vehicle in
attempt in which the vehicle is passing brake test will be considered as final.

Article C4: Skid pad: The Main purpose of Skid pad is to measure the go karts cornering

ability. In the skid pad round the go kart must complete the Figure of 8 at the time of event. The
turning radius for the go kart will be 2.5m and the width of the track will be 3m. Each team will get 2
chances to complete the skid pad round with the different driver. The score will be provided with the
lowest time taken.

Scoring Formula : Skid Pad score = 60x [(TlongestTyours)/ (TlongestTshortest)]

C4.1 Penalties:
Cones Down or Out: If a go kart touch or hit a cone as a penalty of 1 second will be
added to the time for every cone that is touch or hit.
Unfinished: The go kart which is out of track and have not finished the skid pad round will
be considered as unfinished till the kart complete the skid pad round
Incorrect Laps: If the go kart not follow the route and takes the wrong laps will be

considered as unfinished.

Article - C5: Autocross: The purpose of the autocross event is to evaluate the vehicles
maneuverability and handling qualities without the hindrance of competing go karts. The autocross is
a single where all the other test is includes like: acceleration, braking and cornering. Each team will
get two (2) attempts to complete this round with the different drivers.

Autocross Course Specifications & Speeds : The specifications for the autocross are mention
below that will suggest the maximum speeds that will be encountered on the course. Average speeds
should be 40 km/hr to 48 km/hr.

Straights: No longer than 50m with hairpins at both ends (or) no longer than 35m with wide turns on
the ends.

Hairpin Turns: Minimum of 7m outside diameter (of the turn).
Slaloms: Cones in a straight line with 8 m to 12 m Spacing.
Scoring Formula: Autocross score = 80x [(TlongestTyours)/ (TlongestTshortest)]
Penalties:
Cones Down or Out: If a go kart touch or hit a cone as a penalty of 2 second will be
added to the time for every cone that is touch or hit.
Driver must re-enter the track at or prior to the missed gate or a thirty (30) second penalty
will be add to the final time.
Missed Slalom: Missing one or more gates of a given slalom will be considered as a off
course and for each miss the thirty (30) second of penalty will be added to the final time.

Article C6: Endurance with fuel Economy test:


Endurance Objective: The objective of the Endurance Event is to evaluate the overall performance
of the go kart and to test the go karts reliability and efficiency. Unlike fuel economy tests that result
in Vehicles going as slow as possible in order to use the least amount of fuel

NOTE : The go karts fuel economy test will be done along with the endurance event. The fuel

economy test is most important for the racing events and it also shows how well the vehicle has
been tuned for the competition. Here once the go kart will be on track for endurance no refueling will
be allowed. The Average speed for the endurance is set as 40 km/hr to 50 km/hr with top speeds of
approximately 70 to 90 km/hr.

Procedure: The Endurance event will be approximately 10km (20 laps*) long. Any manufacturing or

repair work on the go kart is strictly prohibited during Endurance round. A driver change can be made
during a two (2) minute period at the midpoint of the Endurance round. Wheel-to-wheel racing is
prohibited. Passing another vehicle may only be done within the passing zone only.

Fueling During Endurance: Before entering for the endurance each go kart fuel tank will be filled to
the Particular level at the fueling station. Once the go kart is out form the fueling station no shaking
or tilting of fuel tank or system is allowed.

Starting/Restarting: The go kart must be capable of starting / restarting without external effort at

all times once the go kart has begun the Endurance round. If a vehicle stalls out on the track, it will
be allowed one (1) lap by the car that is following it (one (1) minute) to restart. If a go kart has a
restart problem at the time of Driver Change, it will be allowed a further three (3) minutes to restart
the engine. If the go kart is not restarts in the given time than it will be counted as unfinished round
for the go kart.

Procedure For driver change: The Endurance time will be start once the driver will enter the track.

There must be two drivers for the endurance round one driver will drive half of the total laps and
other drive will drive the remaining half laps. Both the drivers will get 2min at the time of driver
changing area. Only three (3) members will be allowed including the driver or drivers in the driver
change area. Only the tools necessary to adjust the Vehicle to accommodate the different drivers will
be carried into this area (no tool chests etc.). Extra people entering the driver change area will result
in a twenty (20) point penalty to the final endurance score for each extra person entering the area.
The Vehicle must come to a complete stop, the IC engine turned off. These systems must remain
shutting down until the new driver is in place. The driver will exit the Vehicle and any necessary
adjustments will be made to the Vehicle to fit the new driver. Three (3) minutes are allowed for the
team to change drivers. The time starts when the Vehicle comes to a halt in the driver change area
and stops when the correct adjustment of the driver restraints and safety equipment has been
verified by the driver change area official. Any time taken over the allowed time will incur a penalty.
Once the new driver is in place and an official has verified the correct adjustment of the driver
restraints and safety equipment, a maximum of two (2) minutes are allowed to restart go kart and
restart the Vehicle drive system and begin moving out of the driver change area.

Vehicle Breakdown and Stalls: If a go kart breaks down at the time of the endurance it will be

removed from the track and will not be allowed to re-enter the track. If a vehicle stalls, or hit a cone,
etc., it will be allowed to restart and re-enter the track where it went off, but no work may be

team member can enter the track and take the kart out of the.
. Penalties for Endurance:
Cones Down or Out: If a go kart touch or hit a cone as a penalty of 2 second will be
added to the time for each cone that is touched or hit
Off Track: If the driver get out of track than he have to enter from the same point or

else twenty (20) second will be added to the final time.


If the driver is moving violently then there will be Penalties for each Violations
Failure to obey a flag : if the driver does not obey the flag than 1min will be added.
Over Driving: For over driving there will be 1 min penalties.
Vehicle to Vehicle contact : If ant kart touch or hit that will be disqualified directly.
Out of Order: Running out of order two (2) minute penalty
Mechanical Problem: If a kart gets any mechanical problem than No additional penalty will
be added but the endurance time will be not stopped for that movement.

Reckless or Aggressive Driving: If any driver is found reckless or aggressive driving


behavior will result in a black flag for that driver. When a driver receives a black flag signal,
he must proceed to the penalty box to listen to a reprimand for his driving behavior. The time
spent in the penalty box will vary from 1 to 4 min.
Inexperienced Driver: If the driver is too slow, too aggressive, or driving in a manner that it
cant complete the race or cant control the kart properly the officials can disqualify the team.
Poor Fuel Economy: If a go kart is not able to complete the event with the provided fuel
than it will come under unfinished.

Endurance Score Formula: Endurance score = 250x [(TlongestTyours)/ (TlongestTshortest)]


Fuel Economy: The fuel economy test score is based on the average liters per kilometer fuel
economy used in the endurance event by the kart.

Fuel Economy Score Formula: If Vyours is less than Vmax then the following equation will be used
to determine the fuel economy score:
Fuel Economy Score = 125 X [(VmaxVyours)/ (VmaxVmin)]

Part D: AIME Rules and Regulation


Article D1: AIME rules and regulation for DKC
D1.1: General Rules and Regulations: There are various rules and restrictions which are to be

followed by each and every team. AIME is having right to impose each and every rule associated with
the event. Violation of any rule by even anyone of the member of the team will be leading to
disqualification or penalization on whole team.

Rules Validation: All the rules will remain same throughout the event and any changes if made will
be notified to the team via proper mailing channel or on www.aimeindia.in.

Rule Agreement: Once register for the event, team, team members, faculty advisors and other

personnel of the college and university agree to obey these rules by AIME. All team members, faculty
advisors and other university representatives are required to cooperate with, and follow all
instructions from, competition organizers, officials and judges.
Any technical queries will only be answered via mails only. None of the technical queries will
be entertained on telephones.
Teams need to give us minimum 72 hours to answer their queries.

Behavior: Since the event is a team event we accept teams to behave in right team spirit. Any kind
of violation will lead to either disqualification or penalization of the team from the event. Each and
every member should follow the instructions given on the event site

Behavior with Officials: Disobeying or argument with official may result in the teams
disqualification from the event and will be immediately told to leave the event site.

Smoking and Illegal Material: All kind of alcohol, drugs and smoking material are strictly prohibited

on event site. If any team or team member is found possessing such materials will lead to teams
elimination from the event.

Vehicle Movement: Vehicle should only be moving by driver onboard with 2 member pushing the
vehicle from behind and two members walking by the vehicle. In no circumstances vehicle should not
be started.

List of Prefabricated Parts: Teams have permission to buy the readymade/fabricated parts but
should be used in minimum way. List of the prefabricated parts- Shock Absorber, Springs, Brake
drum, disc, caliper and brake holding assembly, master cylinder, steering gear box, steering column,
steering wheel, Wheel rims & Tires, tie rod ends, Engine, Fuel tank & exhaust system.

Other Penalties:

Rules Violation: 200 points/ disqualification


Arguments with officials or volunteers: 200 points/ disqualification
Changes in Vehicle after TI or Damaging the TI sticker: 200 points/disqualification
Entry without permission on tracks -: 200 points/ disqualification
Damage of resources on track will result to the penalty of Rs 5000/- on the team and also
prize & certificates will not be awarded to the particular team/team member.
