SUBJECT OF AUDITOR NOTE Transportation Ways

Potential Risk to be Checked
Are there any transportation ways (e.g.: fork lift
truck routes within a factory where pedestrian
access also takes place, conveyor systems)?
Are risks related to transportation ways evaluated
in a Risk Assessment?
Are the stability of transportation ways and their
load bearing capacity evaluated in all conditions?
On transportation ways is the maximum
admissible load clearly signalled for every
condition?
Are hooks provided with closure and safety
disposals and indication of maximum admissible
load?
Are transportation ways provided with proper
braking systems?
Are transportation ways provided with automatic
stop devices in case of emergencies?
Are transportation ways provided with acoustic
and luminous devices when interfering with
working places and/or transit areas?
Are there devices to prevent leakage, or unsafe
conditions available for roll-up cables or chains?
Are diameters of cables, drums and pulleys
correctly dimensioned?
Are cables and chains periodically inspected?
If necessary, are they registered?
Have cables and chains proper devices to avoid
accidental loss of strands?
Are loads properly slung to avoid accidental falls
or movement?
Are controlled working places accessible without
dangers, are proper protection mechanisms inplace for the operator and is visibility of the
working area unobstructed?
Are operators commands positioned
ergonomically, are they protected against
involuntary start and are they provided with
proper indications?
Are instructions to use transportation ways
described in clearly readable posters?
Have workers been trained and informed about
safe use of transportation ways?

SUPPLEMENT AUDITOR NOTE:

Is the speed of transportation ways regulated

according to characteristics of the route, load and
braking system?
Are speed limits clearly signalled?
Do transportation ways respect speed limits?
Does the internal route of the transportation way
involve hazards of running-over and collisions?
Are workers properly trained on safe use of
transportation ways?
Are workers informed about risks, when using the
transportation ways?
Is there a proper maintenance plan for
transportation ways? Is it updated?
Are transit areas properly signalled?
Is there a specific parking area for transportation
ways?
Are transportation ways appropriately sized,
shaped and dimensioned for the loads? Are
transportation ways used according to their
technical specifications?

Note: for specific limits and/or technical data it is necessary to refer to local legal/technical
requirements.
