Objectives: By the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1. To enrich vocabulary related to wild animals;
2. To describe the animal body;
3. To encourage free conversation and develop fluency;
4. To feel more positive when expressing their ideas in English;
5. To practice asking and answering questions;
Techniques: brainstorming, dialogues, gap filling exercises, matching pictures exercise,
discussion, exercise, explanation.
Materials: notebook, handouts, pictures, whiteboard, videoprojector
Classroom management: frontal, individual, pair work, group work.
Anticipated problems: If students have problems understanding the English tasks, they
will be translated into Romanian.
Time: 45 minutes

Stages of lesson activities:


Activity 1: Warm up
Aim: To create a pleasant atmosphere and to relax the students
Procedure: Teacher greets the class. The teacher gives the students a note on which is
written a number. The number represents a letter. On the board, the teacher sticked a
flipchart on which it is drawn a string of numbers. The students have to come to the board
and stick the letter, representing the numbers. They will find the word TODAY WE
ARE HAPPY.

Activity 2: Lead in
Aim: To introduce the topic of the lesson
Procedure: The teacher checks the homework.
The teacher shows students pictures of different animals. Teacher asks students to name
them and to say which of these animals live in our country and where the other animals
live.
Teacher informs students about the lessons aims, writes them on the whiteboard and
writes the title and the date on the whiteboard.

Activity 3: Presentation - Brainstorming


Aim: To enrich vocabulary related to wild animals
Procedure: Teacher asks students to watch a video, in which it is described the animal
body. Words like tail, fur, spots, humps, stripes, trunk, beak are introduced. Teacher
writes the new words on the table and asks students to write them on their notebooks. In
order to check if the students have understood, the teacher sticks a flipchart on the board,
with different parts of the body. The students have to come and match the body part with
the picture.
Teacher gives feedback.

Activity 4: Practice
Aim : To describe animal body
Procedure: Teacher asks students to work in pairs. Each pair will receive a worksheet,
on which they have to match the pictures with the descriptions. The pictures represents
animals.
Teacher checks it with the whole class.
Time: 5 min

Activity 5: Practice
Aim: To describe the animal body
To feel more positive when expressing their ideas in English
Procedure: The teacher invites students to play a game. The students are divided into
five groups. Each group has to choose a card, on which it is an animal tiger, zebra,
monkey, fox, crocodile. The group has to describe the animals, what they look like and
then a member will come in front of the class and say the description, and if necessary, he
will mime the animal. The rest of the class has to guess the animal.
The teacher checks and gives feedback.

Activity 6: Homework
Aim: To practise describing animals, relying on the information provided during the class
Procedure: Teacher gives the homework and explains the task.
Write a short paragraph in which you:
-say which your favorite wild animal is and why;
-say why they are important for people;
-describe them.

Match the pictures with the descriptions:


1. It is very tall, has long legs and a long neck. Its skin has dark spots. It eats grass
and fruits. It sleeps standing up.

grey.
3. It has long legs and one or two humps on its back. It can live for many days
without eating or drinking. People use them to cross the desert.
4. It is a large sea animal. It eats fish or even birds. The blue one is the largest
animal in the sea
5. It lives in the forest. It has four legs and brown fur. It has a small tail. They are
omnivores, which means they eat almost anything, from insects to berries to large
animals
