DESIGN CONCEPT
Key Features:
The Basic idea of the design is to
create a war memorial in the existing
lawns surrounding the India Gate,
Keeping in the mind the existing site
features, design process, aesthetic and
cultural value of the region.
The sites taken for the design are
LAWN-II and LAWN-I, Thus
maintaining the symmetry as the main
feature of the design.

The garden, after being converted into a French garden style, somewhat has a shape
and outline similar to that of an engraved Shield, thus metaphorically depicting the fact
that the War Martyrs protect our country like a shield.

Enhancing the
beauty of the
landmark, in the
Ariel photographs
taken from time to
time.
This style also
helps in
maintaining the
international
standards of the
site.
The central pillar consists of the sculpture , originally of a Soviet officer Alexei Yeremenko
leading his troops in the Battle of Berlin, WWII, but the uniform will be converted to that of
Indian Military attire. The sculpture depicts the martyrs passion and enthusiasm , for the love of
their nation.
COLUMN DESIGN
The columns are
designed in two
options- With Chattris
and without Chattris.
The front side of the
pillar comprises of a
frame engraved with
names of the martyrs.
The other three sides
are engraved with
beautiful motifs.
The material to be
used for the pillars is
Karoli Stone or
Dholpur stone.

PLATFORM-NEVER FORGET
The central platform
comprises of a stone
wreath with a
sculpture of An Indian
soldier standing in the
Shok Shastra position.
The bottom part of
the wreath consists of
inscriptions with
various beautiful
quotes for patriotism,
bravery and warships,
thus igniting the spirit
of love for the
country, in the fellow
visitors.
