The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and


Economic Development (DMPED) is inviting
qualied small business owners who wish to improve
their place of business to apply for Great Streets
Retail Small Business Grant(s).
The purpose of this grant is to transform emerging
commercial corridors into thriving and inviting
neighborhood centers by investing in existing small
businesses, attracting new businesses, increasing
the Districts tax base, and creating new job
opportunities for District residents.
As a small business owner(s) you can receive:
- Individual grant of up to $50,000
- Buildings with two businesses, grant of up to $75,000
- Buildings with three businesses, grant of up to

$100,000

Application deadline: October 21, 2016 at 6 p.m.

Eligible applicants must:

Own a retail or service business within the approved


boundaries.

Ineligible businesses include:


Adult entertainment
Auto body repair
Bank
Bar
Construction, general contracting, architecture,
design-build
Financial services
Home-based business
Hotel
Liquor store
Nightclub
Phone store
Professional services*
Real estate, property management, realtor

Be a registered business in Good Standing with the DC


Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs
(DCRA), the DC Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR), the
DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) and
the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Own or otherwise possess site control of the business
property.
Possess proof of property and liability insurance.
Proof of business average annual revenue (based on the
last 3 years of completed scal years), or projected
average annual revenue for rst three (3) years in
business does not exceed $1 million.
Basic business license.

*Professional services are dened as accountant, actuary,


architect, dentist, engineer, evaluator, nancial planner,
lawyer, pharmacist, physician, registered nurse, and training
& development
