OUR STORY
UAVs have long been used for military surveillance and border defense, but now the
commercial sector is becoming increasingly interested in how they can be applied to
solve problems and reduce operating costs.
Asian countries, because of their economic and geographic conditions, present a
distinct set of problems and obstacles:
Ambiguous and sometimes incoherent regulatory frameworks
Country borders that are vast, remote and comprise of many islands
Natural disasters happen far too frequently, affect large populations or remote
locations
A large mining and oil and gas industry that requires security and surveying
solutions
A significant agricultural industry that needs to become more efficient
Large densely populated cities that require surveillance, security and emergency
services
Unique and endangered wildlife that needs protecting
UAVs are a credible solution to all of these problems.
Welcome to The Commercial UAV Show Asia.
The conference will bring these commercial communities together to learn and see
how UAVs can help them save money, time and lives. The exhibition, held alongside
the conference, will showcase the vast capabilities and applications of UAVs, from
surveillance and monitoring to mapping, inspection and delivery. This will include
some of the worlds leading UAV manufacturers and their suppliers and also some
of the most innovative UAV start-ups out there, showcasing the best of both existing
and emerging technology.
In 2016 the show will be run alongside The IoT Show Asia, bringing you an overview
of game changing technologies across Asian industry.
If you are a UAV manufacturer or service provider then a sponsorship package
will position you in-front of relevant commercial buyers. If you want to meet UAV
manufacturers in Asia, then an exhibition booth on the show floor is a must.

Asia is expected to be the largest regional manufacturer of

UAVs in the world over the next decade.

THE CONFERENCE
The Commercial UAV Show Asia combines the commercial expertise of the worlds
most innovative and forward-thinking companies with the ingenuity and technical
expertise of the worlds best academics.
The conference will bring a variety of commercial communities together to learn and
see how UAVs can help them save money, time and lives. The industries that will be
speaking at and attending the conference are from:
Agriculture
Transport and Delivery
Energy commodities
Retail, logistics and cargo
Emergency services
Environmental and conservation
Humanitarian aid
Regulators and aviation authorities
Our agenda is carefully constructed to address the needs of all UAV stakeholders
and will feature speakers from across the eco-system as well as inspirational
keynote speakers.
If you have an interesting case study to share, contact Emily Chong on
emily.chong@terrapinn.com or +65 6322 2339.

"A fantastic job pulling this conference together, really high

quality in content, speakers and execution, flawless."

Everyone in the aviation business knows the importance of the FAA in

promoting global safety. From encouraging and developing civil aeronautics,
to crafting air traffic control and navigation for both civil and military aircraft,
every guideline made by the FAA influences the global aviation industry. Join
James to find out more about the latest FAA UAS guidelines and explore how
they will affect Asia's UAS industry.

Most civil UAS applications today are found in media, mapping and inspection
with conventional RGB cameras being the main sensor. There are, however,
less conventional sensors and applications, two of which are discussed in this
talk in terms of their motivation, technology, and (data) challenges: The use of
ground penetrating radar for landmine detection and VHF radio receivers for
orangutan tracking.

One of the most widely publicised application of UAVs is to address emerging

environmental and socioeconomic challenges, including land use conflicts,
carbon emissions, and threats to natural ecosystems and wildlife. Learn from
Lian Pin Koh, an academic, innovator and UAV pilot on how drones can best
be used in conservation efforts.

Whilst IoT is the key to building a smart city, other emerging technologies,
such as UAVs, can also play a role in providing real time insights.
Leading Ciscos Global Innovation Center, Ben is focused on bringing
innovative ideas to life and accelerating the development of smart cities in
South Korea and Asia Pacific. Join us for this exciting session and hear how
UAVs can be used both in smart city construction and as part of the smart
city digital management system, and explore the further impact of technology
on our connected future.

With e-commerce giants including Amazon and Alibaba exploring the

potential of using drones for delivery, Japans Rakuten has also joined the
race, testing drone delivery on a golf course in Japan. The drones will be
able to provide food, snacks and golf accessories such as new balls to
players, and will be summoned by an app. Hideaki will be sharing the results
of their trials so far, and also exploring other applications of this technology
within the Rakuten Group, including delivering goods to sparsely populated
or mountainous areas, transporting supplies during disasters and of course
broader applications for e-commerce delivery.
