ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
WARNING
Prior to installing the radiographic system, it is advisable that the electrical supply complies with
the recommended specifications in this manual.
CAUTION
According to relevant and practical standards, the x-ray control must be installed in a
position allowing the operator to see and have full control of the radiographic
exposure.
On the x-ray control installation wall, suitable runs for the following electrical cables must be
provided, according to the electrical installation diagram (refer to section 18
ATTACHMENTS):
a.
b.

5. INSTALLATION
CAUTION
The xgenus ac/dc radiographic systems must be installed by professionally trained
technicians, who must be able to certify their work.
CAUTION
Prior to proceeding with the installation, check that all requirements are met.
5.1 UNPACKING
The components of the xgenus ac/dc radiographic systems are delivered by the factory securely
packaged within a specifically designed box, as shown in the following sketch (Fig. 5):
PLEASE NOTE
Prior to installation, please check all components for shipping damage. Advise the carrier.
PLEASE NOTE
The carton materials and the polystyrene foam can be completely recycled or disposed of by
authorized recycling companies.
PLEASE NOTE
It is advisable to store the original packaging to return the goods for repairs if required.
xgenus ac/dc

2. Position the drilling template on the radiographic system installation wall, at the required
height (130 cm from the base is the suggested height)
3. Fix the template
4. Check the holes for vertical and horizontal alignment with the floor, using a plumb line
5. Mark the plate fixing holes
6. Mark the holes for the electric cables connecting the x-ray control to the radiographic unit
PLEASE NOTE
To prevent any flaking of the white paint coat and to control the center distances between the
holes, it is advisable to start drilling with a tip 7, increasing this measure gradually.
7. Drill the plate fixing holes
8. If required, drill the holes for the electric cables connecting the x-ray control to the
radiographic unit
9. Remove the template
characteristics
10. Unscrew the screw
12. Attach the plate to the wall and insert the screws
tighten alternately
13. Check that the plate is securely fixed to the wall and is plumb and level.
PLEASE NOTE
If the wall is not perfectly leveled, put a suitable shim between the wall and the plate, so as to
prevent any possible warping of the mounting plate.

PLEASE NOTE
The brackets come in the following lengths: 41cm (16.2) - 82.5cm (32.5) - 110cm (43.5)
The 82.5 cm and 110 cm brackets are provided with a stop key (Fig. 7A and 7B) to prevent the
electric cable from twisting.
PLEASE NOTE
Generally, the stop key is installed so that the equipment position at rest is on the right side of a
possible viewer when standing in front of the wall plate (Fig. 7A).
Should the position at rest be on the left side, the stop key must be rotated by 180 (Fig. 7B).

After fixing the plate to the wall, assemble the bracket according to the following procedure (Fig. 8):
1. Take the bracket out of the packaging (refer to Fig. 5)
2. Insert the bracket pin
Fig. 8
PLEASE NOTE
Prevent any foreign material (drywall, dust, cement, etc. ) from settling on the pin seat.
The pin must slide freely in its seat. If required, thoroughly clean and lubricate with grease
Molikote D".
PLEASE NOTE
Carefully check the bracket is parallel to the floor by using a water level.

Insert the cable into the arm and push it until it reaches the pin outlet near the supply
terminal board
xgenus ac/dc
CAUTION
For electrical safety, it is essential that the ground conductors be correctly connected.
WARNING
The electric cable length is suitable for 82.5cm long arms.
DOT NOT tamper with the terminals arrangement when 41cm long arms are used.
The excess cable must be housed in the housing provided.

In this case, turn off the timer and then turn it back on again.
If the error should repeat itself, call for Technical Assistance.
PLEASE NOTE
The exposure time and radiographic parameters which appear on the display are the last that
were set before the x-ray control was turned off.
PLEASE NOTE
If installed outside the operatory, the RX signaling lamp corresponding to the selected tube head
turns on.
PLEASE NOTE
If the x-ray control remains unused and inactive for a few minutes, it switches to the stand-by
mode. Press any key of the CONTROL PANEL to restore it to the operative mode.
The previous settings will be retained.

PLEASE NOTE
The xgenus x-ray control features the "self-compensating" technology.
The automatic correction or compensation of the exposure time offsets the effects of the
line voltage fluctuations on x-ray film quality.
Radiographic over/under exposure is eliminated.
The automatic correction system works as follows:
A voltmeter located inside the timer constantly reads the mains voltage
while the operator selects the required exposure time.
At the end of the exposure, during the pause time, the time-corrected value
is shown on the display of the x-ray control.
THE PAUSE TIME IS APPROX. 32 TIMES THE SET TIME.

WARNING
While performing periodic quality checks, some differences between the set exposure time and
the measured exposure time may be detected.
The differences are due to the automatic time compensation that intervenes when the power
voltage differs from the nominal one.
The x-ray control is provided with two types of accuracy measurements for the exposure time:
A. Set exposure (is the exposure time set by the operator on the x-ray control).
The max error is +100% / - 100% when the voltage fluctuation is -5% / +10%.
B. After exposure: its the exposure duration (automatically adjusted). Its calculated by the
microprocessor according to the line voltage, and its shown on the display.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
CAUTION
Radiations will be emitted.
To check the exposure times (sec) it is advisable to use calibrated non invasive instruments;
i.e.:

TRIAD QA by Keithley
a. Put the X-ray detector at the cone outlet; center the primary beam.
b. Turn on the x-ray control
c. Set one exposure time on the control.
d. Release the exposure.
e. At the end of the exposure, when the functional pause period starts, read the actual time of
exposure on the display.
f. To check the accuracy of the exposure time, use the chart below.
subtract 1 from 2
divide 3 by 2

PLEASE NOTE
The exposure time complies with the requirements when:
