countries to protect internationally recognized human rights. Its vision is for every
person to enjoy all the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights and other international human rights standards. Amnesty Internationals
mission is to conduct research and take action to prevent and end grave abuses of
all human rights civil, political, social, cultural and economic. From freedom of
expression and association to physical and mental integrity, from protection from
discrimination to the right to housing these rights are indivisible. Awarded the
Nobel Prize for its work, over the last fifty years it has played a pivotal role in
working towards global peace and facilitating international treaties on a wide range

Amnesty International India (AII), for the purpose of contextualizing its work in the
country, has developed its 5 year strategic plan to build a self-sustaining human
rights movement in India. Through a framework of action our aim is to improve
understanding of the significance of protecting and promoting human rights in an
emerging economy and, its perception related to an expanding set of themes and
issues. This can be achieved by engaging, empowering, inspiring and mobilizing a
diverse and wide spectrum of people and communities to work for sustainable
positive changes in their own human rights situations.
From 2012 to 2016, we will focus on fulfilling the following objectives:
Rights for education:

Integrate human rights in education and the community


Facilitate the building and sustenance of a rights respecting society by
targeting disparity and discrimination of children

Strengthening the base for promoting the values of equality, dignity, respect,
non-discrimination and participation to enhance and secure opportunity,
especially for the marginalized and underprivileged

Strive for the protection and promotion of Human Rights through:

Change in policy and improved accountability by informing, engaging and


activating diverse audiences around critical and contemporary human rights
challenges in India by using innovative activism and mobilization strategies
and tactics
Planned Research and Campaigns & Reactive Campaigns along with
Mobilization and activism.

Job Title: Digital & Social Media Manager


Job Purpose:
The Digital & Social Media Manager will oversee social media campaigns which
include but are not limited to: research, campaign & content creation, execution,
monitoring and reporting.
S/he is also the managing-editor of publications and is responsible for overseeing the
publications work-flow and whether an item is published or not. S/he also makes sure
overall tone, message, and material reflect Amnesty Indias goals and communication
standards.
S/he oversees the Web Editor and collaborates with the Programmes Team.
Job Description:
The Digital & Social Media Manager is part of the Media & Communications team,
and reports to the Director Media & Advocacy. The Digital & Social Media Manager
will oversee social media campaigns which include but are not limited to: research,
campaign & content creation, execution, monitoring and reporting. S/he is also the
managing-editor of publications and is responsible for overseeing the publications
work-flow and whether an item is published or not. S/he also makes sure overall tone,
message, and material reflect Amnesty Indias goals and standards. When new
material or web feature is created, it is submitted to the Digital & Social Media
Manager, who reviews and assigns the material for correction or publication.

Responsibilities
:

Administrate the creation and publishing of relevant, original, high-quality


content.
Identify and improve organizational development aspects that would
improve content
Create a regular publishing schedule.
Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific,
timely marketing campaigns.
Work with Programmes team to create a social media strategy.
Monitor sites for opportunities and initiate conversations.
Analyze and report social media actions on a monthly basis for successes
and new campaigning opportunities.
Stay current with social media trends and tools.
Continue to refine and define our social marketing process.
Work with teams to create a solid branding message thats reflected across

Amnesty India marketing materials, social media content and shared by


employees.

Skills &
Experience

7-10 years experience in communications, potentially from an integrated


marketing, PR, or communications industry.
Bachelors degree or equivalent.
Excellent communication skills, including accurate written and verbal skills.
Excellent editorial skills with a sound understanding of writing for the web
and engaging online audiences.
Proven tools and methods for measuring the impact of social media
programs and ROI, including Google Analytics and Omniture/Adobe
Marketing Cloud
Organized, self-managing, yet definitely a team playerworking well
collaboratively is a must
Able to deal with unpredictable situations, with exceptional-problem solving
skills as well as, work within tight deadlines, adjust to changes in priorities,
and balance short term needs with long term strategic initiatives
Able to execute a project from start to finish independently if needed, and
comfortable working in an ambiguous environment
Experience including but not limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Google
Communities, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Pinterest, and more.
Knowledge of social media and analytics software (Hootsuite, Raven Tools,
Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.).
Strong knowledge of social media paid advertising campaigns including
Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter.
