Many people use distance-learning programmes to study at home, but some people think

that it cannot bring the same benefits of attending college or university. To what extent
do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Nowadays, tele-education is becoming increasingly popular. However, whether this practice
could provide us the same benefits as traditionally educational methods is a controversial issue.
In my view, I strongly believe that the advantage of joining the curriculums at universities or
colleges is far superior to that of distance education for the following reasons.
Firstly, distance learning generally and online study programs in particular lack of the interaction
between teachers and learners. It is obvious that remote students do not have access to their
tutors immediately and directly whenever they find some principles subtle or difficult in dealing
with tricky questions. This leads to a numerous challenge for students, requiring them to spend
more time and efforts in order to keep pace with other students in real schools.
Another reason why I do not approve distance schooling due to the fact that most students lack
the sufficient self-consciousness to ensure that they will follow and fulfill all requirements of the
course only by themselves. For instance, a recent survey cover on three thousand Vietnamese
students who took part in off-campus programs showed that over half of them struggled hard to
get rid of the distractions caused by their surroundings. This means attending university and
college is more crucial for such students.
Moreover, many remote education service providers offer students low-quality programs. These
degree factories manipulate the media and advertising to attract students enrolling in their
programs without the adequate quality, leading to a serious waste of students time, money, and
efforts.
That is not to say that we should underestimate the positive aspects of distance learning. Almost
online courses is far more economical and flexible compared to university or college.
In conclusion, although distance learning provides another form of schooling and its
contributions to our society are undeniable, it still exists many problems which need to be
improved. Consequently, I suppose university and college still remain being the first choice
among students.
