ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

As a mechanical engineering student of UNIVERSITY TUN HUSSIEN ONN

MALAYSIA, I am required to undergo an industrial training in the field that practice the
courses outline. In this report, I compile all experience I received during my industrial
training period at Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (west site) base in JOHOR
BAHARU, PASIR GUDANG at Project Management Unit under Hook-up &
Commissioning Department that located building at offshore business unit (OBU). I had
been assigned for BESAR platform project under observation of two supervisors which
is En. Nur Islam Bin Nur Iskandar and En. Azizi Bin Tumiran. En. Nur Islam currently
hold a position as Project Manager and En. Azizi currently hold a position as Senior
Project Unit. During my training period, I managed to get an overview on Oil & Gas
industries sector, fabrication structure, welding working process, blasting & painting
process, and the process flow of non-destructive test (NDT).
Lastly, special thanks to my both supervisor En. Nur Islam and En. Azizi and my
visiting lecturer Dr. Erween, thank you so much for your most welcoming and all your
teachings during my internship period. The knowledge I gained during my observation,
manual reading, and teaching from MMHE s staff also from my actual technical
activities during the internship. It is an honour to be able experience working environment
that MMHE provide. With all the experiences I get here it also helps me for becoming a
better engineer one day and also I hope that I can put a good used of everything I have
learned so far during internship to be a better engineer and I can apply on what I have
learned here while working later.
Last but not least, I would like to thanks to my family and to all committee of
MALAYSIA MARINE AND HEAVY ENGINEERING (MMHE) for their continuous
support and countless sacrifices. Thus, I dedicate this report to them. I offer my regards
and blessings to all of those who supported me in any respect during the completion of
the project.

ABSTRACT

This report describes all the projects, tasks and assignments during my industrial
training. This report also describes the services that Malaysia Marine and Heavy
Engineering (MMHE) provide. The main project which is MMHE construction in oil and
gas industry.
All bachelor degree students are required to undergo industrial training for 10th
weeks as part of their curriculum to complete their 4-year course for the Bachelor of
Mechanical Engineering studies. The attachment will be during the 7th semester of their
study. During the 10th weeks period of training, students will be supervised and
monitored by his/her department supervisors at the industrial training place.
For my industrial training, I did at Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering
(MMHE) in a Project Management Unit on Hook-up &Commissioning department which
situated at Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru. It is an only oil and gas fabrication company that
base in Johor Bahru. MMHE is not the only company that do fabrication job in Malaysia,
theres a few company that do the same business as MMHE like Tabung Haji Heavy
Engineering that base in Klang,Selangor and Sapura Kencana fabrication yard that base
in Lumut, Perak. I was assigned to the hook-up &commissioning team and project
management team section which my two supervisor which is En. Nur Islam and En. Azizi
and also my academic visiting supervisor Dr. Erween.
