TheLynnPippengerSchoolofAccountancy(/business/departments/accountancy/index.aspx)prepares
undergraduatesforavarietyofcareeroptionsundertheaccountingumbrella,includingauditing,tax,forensics,business
consulting,andcorporatecompliance.Studentsareimmersedinahighquality,diverselearningenvironmentthatfocuses
oninnovationandcriticalthinkingskills,whichpreparesthemtoimpactnotonlytheaccountingprofessionbutalsothe
greatercommunity.
Throughadditionalcoursework,accountinggraduatesareeligibletositforseveraldifferentprofessionalcertificationexams,
notablytheCertifiedPublicAccountant(CPA)exam.SeetheCertifyingforSuccess
(/business/departments/accountancy/certifyingforsuccess.aspx)pageformoreinformation.
Inaddition,accountingmajorsarepreparedtoentertheMasterofAccountancy
(/business/graduate/masters/macc/index.aspx)(MAcc).Furtherstudyatthegraduatelevelnotonlyenablesstudentsto
continuedevelopingknowledgeandskills,butalsopositionsthemtobecomeleadersintheprofession.

RequirementsfortheMajor
Inadditiontouniversitydegreeandbusinesscorerequirements,studentsmustcomplete24credithoursinaccounting
courses.

Currentlyhedemandforaccountinggraduatestofillthesepositionsishigh:41%oftheLynnPippengerSchoolof
Accountancygraduatesrespondedthattheyhadobtainedfulltimeaccountingpositionswithin3monthsofgraduationina

AdditionalAdmissionRequirements
TheLynnPippengerSchoolofAccountancyisanupperlevel,limitedaccessschool,whichmeansthatstudentsapplying
totheundergraduatemajormustmeetadmissionsrequirementsinadditiontothoseofUSFingeneral,includingthe
following:
aminimum75percentscoreonacompetencyexam(/business/departments/accountancy/competency
exam.aspx)coveringprinciplesoffinancialaccounting(ACG2021)andprinciplesofmanagerialaccounting(ACG
2071),whichisrequiredbeforeany3000leveltaxoraccountinglevelcoursescanbetaken,and
successfulcompletionofintermediatefinancialaccountingI(ACG3103)withaminimumgradeofC(notC)onno
morethantwoattempts.("W"gradescountasanattempt.)
