RATIONALE
The program Bachelor in Business Teacher Education has been enriched to provide
quality and globally competitive education and to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes of the
students. The main core of the revised curriculum concentrates on the business technology and
livelihood education and information technology education making the students ready to teach
these varied courses in the elementary, secondary, college, and vocational/technical schools.
This revised curriculum is in consonance with the standards stated in the CMO no. 30
Series 2004 known as the Revised Policies and Standards for Undergraduate Teacher Education
Curriculum and the competencies to be tested in the Licensure Examination for Teachers, the
recommendations of the leading professional teacher education organization, Philippine
Association for Teacher Education (PAFTE) were also taken in consideration.
II.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor in Business Teacher Education is a four-year degree program with two
specializations: business technology and livelihood education; and information technology
education. For the major business technology and livelihood education, it prepares graduates to
teach effectively across the learning areas in the elementary, secondary, college and
vocational/technical schools the courses in the office and business technology (office procedures,
keyboarding, shorthand, bookkeeping, accounting, business mathematics, management,
marketing, entrepreneurship, merchandising, and computer education) as well as in livelihood
education courses (home technology, food, and cosmetology, basic drafting, basic electricity,
basic electronics, plumbing, carpentry and masonry). For the major information and technology
education, it prepares graduates to teach effectively and intensively information and technology
subjects across the learning areas in the elementary, secondary, college and vocational/technical
schools.
The course also prepares students for entry into and advancement in jobs within the
general business office.
This revised curriculum is in accordance with CMO No. 30 Series of 2004.

After satisfactorily completing all the requirements leading to a BBTE major in ITE
degree, the graduates are eligible to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) Board
Examination. The graduates may qualify for but not limited to the following entry level positions:

RATIONALE
The pre-service preparation of teachers in the secondary educational sector is a
very important function and responsibility that has been assigned to higher education
institutions. All efforts to improve the quality of teachers are dependent on the service
teachers who are properly prepared to undertake the various important roles and
functions of secondary school teachers. It is, therefore, of utmost importance that the
highest standards are set in defining the objectives, components and process of the preservice secondary school teacher to keep pace with the demands of global
competitiveness.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The BSEd program is a four-year course leading to the degree of Bachelor in
Secondary Education, major in English. It is an excellent preparation for the teaching
career and for advancement in any field in which communication skills are important.
Courses offered for the major emphasize research skills, critical thinking, and
problem solving skills as essential parts of training for teachers in secondary schools.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English aims to provide training
and practice that will enable students to:
1. acquire basic and higher level literacy, communication, necessary critical thinking,
learning skills needed for higher learning.
2. develop a meaningful and comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter they will teach.
3. apply a wide range of teaching process skills (including curriculum development, lesson
planning, materials development, educational assessment and teaching approaches).
4. gain direct experience in the field/classroom (classroom observations, teaching assistance,
practice teaching).
5. demonstrate and practice the professional and ethical requirements of the teaching
professional.

I. RATIONALE
Quality education is a very potent instrument in the improvement of the quality of life of
people. This end can be best served by having quality teachers. The quality of mathematics
education is necessary to hasten progress and development.
The program Bachelor in Secondary Education major in Mathematics has been enriched
to develop the skills, abilities and discipline of our students toward efficient teaching of principles
and applications of mathematics; competent management of high school students; responsible
and dynamic leadership in schools and communities; attainment of desirable sense of values,
social concern and responsible citizenship; and professional growth and development.
This curriculum is in consonance with the standards stated in the CMO No. 30 series
2004 and the recommendations of leading professional organization in teacher education which is
the Philippine Association For Teacher Education (PAFTE).
B. Specific Objectives
The BSED major in Mathematics program endeavors to:
1. Provide a comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter, equip with the theoretical,
practical skills, attitudes, values and experiences needed to be globally competitive
and nationally certified secondary school teacher in mathematics.
2. Develop a logical and critical mind that enhances the knowledge in concepts and
ideas included in curriculum development, instruction, and assessment.
3. Prepare students to develop a variety of learning materials or instructional materials
using computer technology and available low cost materials.
4. Develop a pool of students who are ready and willing provide extension services in
the university and communities.

I. RATIONALE
Our world is changing rapidly and in order to address the need of education in meeting
the challenges of the contemporary society, PUP College of Education is offering Bachelor in
Secondary Education major in Social Studies. Social Studies is the integrated study of the social
sciences and humanities to promote civic competence. Within the school program, social studies
provides coordinated, systematic study drawing upon such disciplines as anthropology,
economics, geography, history, law, philosophy and political science. The primary purpose of the
program is to help young people develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for
the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.

1. obtain a comprehensive knowledge and deep understanding in the field of Elementary
Education.
2. develop a critical mind that enhances knowledge of concepts and ideas included in
curriculum development, instruction, and assessment.
3. acquire the theoretical and practical skills needed to be globally competitive and
nationally certified Elementary School Teacher.
4. gain a broad liberal education in the arts and letters, social sciences and philosophy,
natural science and mathematics.
5. develop the cultural sensitivity, ethical responsibility, and social consciousness needed
to become upright and productive individuals of this country.
