Exposition meruapakan suatu jenis text yang sering di bahas dalam kalimat bahasa inggris.

Exposition is a comprehensive description and explanation of an idea or theory. Dengan kata


lain, teks eksposisi merupakan sebuah teks yang memiliki tujuan persuasif atau
mempengaruhi orang lain dengan pendapat dari si pembaca, biasanya eksposisi ada dalam
diskusi, pidato, debat dan lain sebagainya. Eksposisi sendiri dibagi menjadi 2 yaitu analytical
exposition dan Hortatory exposition, penjelasan serta perbedaan nya ada di bawah ini.

agar memiliki pemikiran dan pendapat yang sama akan suatu hal.
WHAT IS HORTATORY EXPOSITION?
Hortatory exposition is a type of spoken or written text that is intended to explain the listeners or reader
that something should or should not happen, atau dengan kata lain hortatory text merupakan bentuk
text yang berfungsi untuk menjelaskan akan suatu hal dan berfungsi untuk mempengaruhi pembaca
atau pendengar nya.

Struktur Hortatory Text

THESIS : Thesis berisi akan suatu pernyataan akan permasalahan yang terjadi, biasanya
ditandai dengan kalimat in my opinion, according to me, for me dan lain sebagainya.

ARGUMENTS : Argumen disini sama dengan alasan yang digunakan untuk mendukung
pernyataan yang telah di ucapkan. Argumen biasanya diawalli dengan kalimat firstly, secondly,
because of that dan lainya.

RECOMMENDATION : Recommendation berisi akan saran yang di berikan penulis ataupun


penutur akan kalimat yang telah di utarakan. Biasanya di tandai dengan kata should, shoudly
dan lain sebagainya.

WHAT IS ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION?


Analytical Exposition is a text that elaborate the writers idea abaout the phenomenon sorrounding and
to persuade the reader or listener. Dengan kata lain, analytical exposition sama dengan hortatory
exposition yang bertujuan untuk meyakinkan para pembaca atau pendengar mengenai pendapat si
penulis.

menggunaka kalimat according to me, I think dan lain sebagainya.

ARGUMENTS : Argument berisi alasan-alasan yang mendukung tentang pernyataan. biasanya


argumen tersebut diawali dengan urutan seperti firstly, secondly dan sebagainya.

CONCLUSION : Yaitu berisi kesimpulan akan pernyataan yang telah di ungkapkan oleh
penulis.

PERBEDAAN HORTATORY vs ANALYTICAL

Hortatory : paragraf terakhirnya berupa Recommendation atau saran.

Analytical : paragraf terakhirnya berupa Conclusion atau kesimpulan.

Dangers of smoking for school age children


We can meet in the streets, both in large cities and small towns where students with santainya smokes
as if thats not a bad deed. You can find them in various places, such as cafes, terminals, public
transport or even around their own schools. People who understand and are aware of health will
certainly are concerned with circumstances such as this. Smoking is obviously injurious to health, but
in addition there is another disadvantage, namely the economic problems. Students generally are people
who are still economically dependent upon parents. This of course will add to the heavy burden that
should be borne by the parents. The current first lady and also a lot of young women who smoke.
The main factors are the cause of student smoking is the environment. Adolescence filled with curiosity
makes them want to try many things. As already mentioned earlier, cigarettes contain nicotine which
lead to addiction. Then once the smoke, it will be hard to stop, unless there is a willingness and
assistance from the environment. The second thing this certainly will not be obtained when the students
are in a neighborhood smoker. Even many of those students who think that men who dont smoke its
not manly. This led to many students who become smokers, because smoking is one of the them to

his children.
If the child has time to spare then the parent task is pushing it in positive activities so they do not have
the time to smoke. Such activities could be like tutoring, sports, music and more. Better yet if parents
take part in it.

banyak juga wanita dan remaja putri yang merokok.
Faktor utama yang menjadi penyebab pelajar merokok adalah lingkungan. Masa remaja yang penuh
dengan rasa ingin tahu membuat mereka ingin mencoba banyak hal. Seperti yang sudah disinggung
sebelumnya, rokok mengandung nikotin yang mengakibatkan kecanduan. Maka sekali merokok, akan
sulit untuk berhenti, kecuali ada kemauan yang keras dan bantuan dari lingkungan. Hal yang kedua ini
tentu tidak akan didapatkan ketika para pelajar berada dalam lingkungan perokok. Bahkan banyak
diantara para pelajar yang menganggap bahwa pria yang tidak merokok itu tidak jantan. Hal inilah yang
menyebabkan para pelajar banyak yang menjadi perokok, dikarenakan rokok merupakan salah satu dari
ajang mereka untuk mengaktualisasikan diri mereka. Sebagai simbol bahwa mereka adalah orang gaul
dan eksis.
Persepsi seperti ini tentu saja adalah sebuah kesalahan besar. Menurut survey yang dilakukan oleh
Yayasan Jantung Indonesia, sekitar 77 persen pelajar Indonesia yang merokok mengawali petualangan
mereka dari tawaran atau olok-olok teman-temannya sendiri. Selain itu, kurangnya informasi mengenai
bahaya rokok sejak dini menjadi penyebab banyaknya pelajar yang merokok. Padahal setiap mereka
menghisap rokok, sama saja menghisap ribuan bahan kimia berbahaya yang justru merugikan
kesehatan.
Peran serta orang tua, guru dan masyarakat dalam mengatasi perokok usia dini
Sebagai masyarakat yang sadar akan kesehatan, maka kita harus melakukan sesuatu dalam
mensosialisasikan bahaya merokok. Semua pihak, baik itu orang tua, guru, masyarakat dan juga
pemerintah harusnya melakukan sosialisasi tentang bahaya merokok bagi pelajar sesuai dengan
kemampuan dan kondisi masing-masing. Sosialisasi yang dilakukan harus benar-benar riil dan masuk
ke alam bawah sadar para pelajar. Hal-hal yang bisa dilakukan untuk mencegah pelajar merokok
diantaranya adalah sebagai berikut:
Sekolah dan jajarannya harus berkomitmen membebaskan sekolah dari rokok. Guru, karyawan dan
orang tua dan semua orang yang berkunjung ke sekolah tidak diperkenankan merokok seperti di rumah
sakit. Hal ini merupakan suatu bentuk keteladanan. Tentu saja akan aneh dan masuk akal jika hanya
siswa
saja
yang
dilarang
merokok.
Kegiatan yang melibatkan pemuda terutama para pelajar tidak boleh menggunakan sponsor dari
perusahaan
rokok
atau
yang
berkaitan
dengannya.
Orang tua yang merokok tidak memperlihatkan diri saat merokok di depan anak-anaknya, jika memang
tidak bisa berhenti merokok. Tetapi jika orang tua bisa berhenti merokok, tentu saja itu akan lebih baik
karena
dapat
dicontoh
oleh
anak-anaknya.
Jika anak memiliki waktu luang maka tugas orang tua adalah mendorongnya dalam kegiatan yang
positif sehingga mereka tidak ada waktu untuk merokok. Kegiatan tersebut bisa seperti les, olahraga,
bermusik dan lain sebagainya. Lebih baik lagi jika orang tua turut serta di dalamnya.
Membudayakan hidup sehat yang bebas rokok harus dimulai dari sekarang. Lebih baik anda
meninggalkan rokok saat ini dalam keadaan masih sehat dan bugar daripada nantinya anda harus
meninggalkan rokok dalam keadaan sakit kritis dan diujung kematian. Demi orang-orang yang kita

Remaja mengalami gejolak emosi karena perubahan berat dan tinggi badan yang berpengaruh juga
pada perkembangan psikisnya. Pada masa gejolak itu merupakan masa sulit sehingga remaja
memerlukan pengendalian diri yang kuat ketika berada di sekolah, di rumah, dan di lingkungan
masyarakat. Dalam keadaan seperti ini, remaja membutuhkan orang dewasa untuk mengarahkan
dirinya. Untuk itu, agar tidak terjerumus pada hal-hal negatif remaja harus mempunyai pendidikan
karakter.
Pendidikan karakter ini dapat membentuk remaja menjadi berprestasi. Di dalam pendidikan karakter
mereka diajari nilai religius yang menguraikan kebaikan agar remaja tumbuh sebagai manusia yang
peka pada lingkungan sosial. Di samping itu, mereka diajari juga nilai toleransi dan nilai cinta damai
atau nilai-nilai kemanusiaan yang membentuk remaja mempunyai sifat pengasih berbudi pekerti, dan
cinta damai. Dalam pendidikan karakter itu mereka diajari juga nilai suka bekerja keras, kreatif,

National Exam or UN is a big issue in Indonesia. It is supposed to measure the ability of the students,

give to much pressure to the students. It must be changed.
When the time for the national exam come we can see on the face of the students the fear and the stress.
Education should educate people not to put them on too much pressure.
It is also a fact that there are so many students that try to cheat on the exam. On the news we were told
about students that bring hand phone with answer in it. Or about the watchers that let the students to
ask answer to their friends.
And after the exam, we find that some students whom are not pass the grade will be too depressed.
Thoose facts above are enough to show us that UN is bring more bad than the good. We must change
the system. We still need UN as an evaluation of the studying process. But it should not be the only one
to decide the result. Teachers and school also should be the part to decide whether a student pass the
grade or not.

National Exam: Pro and Contra?
National exam becomes the hot topic in most of discussions among students, teachers, and
parents. Some people believe that national exam is not necessary for students as a
requirement to be able graduate from a school. In other hand, other people see national exam
as an important indicator to know whether students have mastered all school materials or not.
The debate among society about national examination goes on until now.
For people who agree, national exam is necessary for students as a requirement to graduate
from a school. People who support the national exam explain that the quality of the Indonesia
education will drop without the national exam, so they try to defend the current system. They
also think that national examination can motivate students to study harder.
However there are people who disagree with the opinion. Those who against this national
exam kept in school education say that it doesn't need the national exams because the quality

of education does not just depend on the national exam. Further, the national exam only
measures a small portion of students' competence in specific subjects, and does not measure
students' competences throughout the semester.
In conclusion, national examination can still be useful as an instrument to evaluate or detect
the level of students' cognitive competence in several subjects, on a national scale. However, it
is not fair if only national exam score that judge whether students pass or not. Government
should make a regulation that national exam is not the only requirement for students to
graduate. There should be other requirements added such as students daily score, behavior,
and achievement.
