AIESEC

AIESEC Intrernational is a non-political,not-for-profit initiative that provides global


platform designed by and for young people to help exploring and developing their
leadership potetntial. The organisation itself is run by students or young
professionals. AIESEC memebers are focused on developing their personal skills
in relation with the world issues today. The core priciple of the organisation is
non-discrimination(ethnic,gender,sexual orientation, religion, national/social
origin).
AIESEC stands for Association Internationale des Estudiants en Sciences
Economiquies et Commerciales and it was founded in 1948 in 7 European
countries. Nowadays the organisation in running their programs in 126 countries
and territories. AIESEC International stands as un umbrella organisation for the
local branch. Each country of the 126 has at least one subsidiary on its territory.
At a corporate level.
The organisations mission is to bring peace and fullfilment of humankinds
potential by engaging and empowering every young person.

At a management level.
AIESEC is working towards their mission by establishing BHAGs (Big Hairy
Audacious Goal). This type strategic plans have a life span between 10-30 years,

the process towards achieving the BHAG is monitored and actualised every 5
years, by setting mid-term ambitions, in this way the organisation can provide
updated solutions to an ever-changing environment.
The new strategic plan sets out the organisation course for the next four years.
The plan is designed to respond to the needs of the organisation and its target
group on a global stage. The current position of AIESEC is global, inspiring the
young minds of 126 countries, empowering the youth to respond to the most
current world issues. AIESEC 2020 stands as a mid-term ambition designed to
bring AIESEC closer to fulfilling humankinds potential. The new strategic plan is
actually a framework for global planning, therefore the local AIESEC branch will
draw up their own strategic plan, working mostly on the implementation process
of the organisations-wide objectives, the local branches are also expected to
craft effective responses to the immediate threats occurring in the world and
within the organization. Over the next four years, the aims and objectives will be
implemented through annual operational plans, the timeline and agenda is
specified in the 2020 strategy. A rough guideline containing 5 key elements is
given:
Improve and invent AIESEC XP. The aim of this phase is to drive activities that
enable more young people to be introduced to and to interact with AIESEC
1. Engagement with AIESEC.
2. Experiential Leadership Development Programme
3. Life-long connection (Alumni network)
Expand Physical and Virtual, focusing on the accessibility of the programmes in
all the territories, physically or virtually depending on the situation. The main
concern is that the message reaches the target group.
P: Create external partnership for expansions (Universities, High-schools,
communal authorities)
V: Open platform expansion (new program opportunities)
Entrepreneurial & agile AIESEC (Internal level). A powerful organisation has
devoted members and qualitative leadership. Our mission revolves around the
concept of management and leadership, in order to create value we need to set a
positive example on how to run a successful organisation.
Open, multi-sided platform & customer XP. Staying up-to-date with the
technological advancement in order to get in contact with the target group. (new
app, partnerships for internet accessibility)
Organizational legality& financial sustainability. Creating competitive advantage
by being a global NGO, transparency and advocacy
In annual reports, the umbrella organisation will measure the overall progress,
each subsidiary is responsible to write their own annual reports.
Budget
AIESEC Internationals operational budget and funds are determined by the
Global Plenary of Member Committees. The operational budget is financed

through Member Committee Contributions (51%) and revenue from global


partners through sponsorships, donations and grants (49%); while the Global
Restricted funds are financed completely by the Member Committees. Any excess
revenue in one accounting period is invested into future operations. AIESEC
international is a non-profit association registered in the Netherlands, and all
financial operations are set up with the intention to deliver global impact.

These 5 key strategies stand as targets, there is no implementation model, and
the methods used in achieving the goals is in the hands of the local branch.
At an operational level.
AIESEC has a list of successful on-going programmes.
Global Citizen Programme is a volunteering programme that enables young
people to serve as an inspiration for other communities. The volunteers are sent
in key locations in order to empower the local communities on different issues
such as education, human rights, sustainable living.
Global Talent Programme offers the young graduates the chance to get their first
or second professional experience. This programme is connecting partner
companies who have similar vision and mission with AIESEC and are able to
provide relevant experiences to young people.
AIESEC on Campus encourages students to take the lead and work within the
organisation to contribute to the mission.

Strategy for the new situation


One of the key element of the AIESEC 2020 Strategy encourages AIESECers to
focus on the research and development of needed mobile apps to satisfy the
customer needs and wants. In our case, the customers are young people who
