Big ideas

1) Sportsmanship is more important than winning or losing

2) Sports is as important as learning academics
3) Sportspersons take ownership of their learning and use their strengths to their advantage.
4) To achieve success in any sport one requires a lot of grit and perseverance.

Driving Question

1) How important is sportsmanship?

2) How important it is to learn any sports?
3) What are the things that great sportspersons do differently?
4) What values does one need to become excellent in some sport?

Holistic assessment

Create 4 teams and they play a team sport respectively. Then smaller groups are made of 4 with 1 person from each team being there. They then take interviews of each other and ask the driving questions to each other and how they came alive in the other person's team. They then write a report based on their
learning of how sports is as important as the academics and whether sportsmanship is more important than winning. The report would also talk of the event where they talk about the driving questions and what did they feel about them with respect to their team and also the other person's team whom they
interviewed.

Logic Checks

Is my content aligned to all the vision component?

Is it grade level appropriate?

Are these sentences big ideas and not factual things?

Is it broad enough?

Are these open ended questions?

1) Is the assessment helping me to assess the

mastery of the big ideas?
2) Does the assessment have writing, speaking
listening and comprehension(curricular) and extracurricular part as components of it?
1) Are these objectives enabling students to excel in
the holistic?
2) Are these objectives leading them to big ideas?
3) Are these objectives allowing my students to grow
on all the three strands?

Yes/No

Give Reasons

Yes

The content is definitely grade specific and also it covers all

the components as sports helps them learn about grit and
perseverance, it also teaches them about love and respecting
everyone. It teaches them to be self aware of the strengths
and AODs and also take ownership of their learning. They learn
to form their own opinions by thinking whether sports is given
the importance it should be given
