Method : To find s and k

Block resting on the inclined plane with length of 1 m , slowly increase the
angle up to point where block just barely begins to slide down the plane
due to its own weight then Measure height of slope from the surface .
Repeat step 1 two more times for each block and find the average of the
trials for . Use trigonometry and given equation = tan to determine
the value of the coefficient of static friction S.
Inclined plane with known angle () was taken to point where the block is
pushed very lightly (just enough to overcome static friction), the block will
slide down the plane at constant speed and time was recorded using stop
watch to measure the time taken to cover 1m distance .
Repeat the step 2 more using another two different blocks and record the
time and finally take average for and find the value for k.

Results :
Individual Result and class result average , standard deviation been calculated
and result been attached on worksheet . By comparing individual result with
class result average , individual result were slight higher than average for both
k and S . Reason for getting unidentified result could be by human error such
not calculation error , not measuring the height to right point .

Analysis :
In attached worksheet two graphs been drawn which represent the affects of
mass and area on S and k . when analysing S class average for all three
blocks are lower than individual results . vertical error bars shows the
uncertainty of the measurement when determining k, intial force to the block
should not disturb the constant acceleration of the block instead giving a very
small horizontal forces only just to break the inertia of the block .
Conclusion :

The objectives for this experiment were met. It was shown that static
friction force is greater than kinetic friction force (S > k),because we need to
use more force to start sliding the object from rest. .Considering the above two
graphs we can say mass and area not been affected by coefficient of both
friction The results of this experiment were reasonably valid.
