WHATS HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM?

Students are in the process of creating

their Unit Projects to show how well they
understand the overall theme of Brothers
and Sisters. Next, we will be learning about
Folklore and Literary Traditions in our
Trickster Tales Unit. Students will enjoy
hearing different versions of the traditional
folktales they heard growing up!

We are wrapping up our Personal

Narratives, learning how to make our
writing stronger with all kinds of tips (strong
words, descriptive tiny details, dialogue, and
more!) Students will continue revising and
adding to their stories for a Publishing Party
next Wednesday :) Our Writing Unit for 2nd
Quarter is Informational Writing. Lots of
fun research involved in this!!

<<<Science/Social Studies>>>

We just tested over Unit 1 in Math,

covering most of our multiplication and
division facts, along with learning arrays and
the beginnings of Area. Next, we will cover
the last of our multiplication table 6-9s.
We will be taking down our multiplication
table after this Unit to ensure that we can
learn our facts without the chart :)

Currently, we are in Social Studies! Students

are learning about where we live in relation
to the World. So far we have covered
Oceans, Continents, and Countries. We will
also discuss our communities and how we fit
into these. Look for a Me on the Map
activity to come home that students will
need to complete as homework :)

school. Instead, we expect students to participate in daily practice of:
-October Reading BINGO
-Reading 20 minutes each night
-Book Orders
-Practicing Spelling Words weekly
-Practicing Math Facts each night - this only takes a few minutes each night, but shows
HUGE improvements in their facts at school!! (soon will need to know w/out chart)
