I pledge Allegiance, to the Flag...

Patriotism is running high in the Hinsdale School,
thanks in part to their new Superintendent, Ed Sugg,
and the VFW Fort Peck Post #3107 (headquarters
in Glasgow). Mr. Sugg made a request to the VFW
for new American flags in the school as the current
ones were either very small and/or faded out. VFW
members made a vote at their last meeting to provide
new flags and a unanimous YES vote had VFW
members on the road to Hinsdale to deliver 15 new
flags. Representing the Raiders are, left to right: Kade
Strommen, Kodi McColly, BaiLee McColly, Walker

Albus, Berkley Hillman, Layna Barrera, Addison Idler,

CharLee McColly, Coy Bowman, Wyatt Sugg and
Margaret Bell. Pictured in the back are Art Widhalm,
Ed Sugg, Bill Sugg and Willie Zeller. Art went on to
explain that the kids always gather at the flag pole
every Monday morning to recite their Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation
under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Now they can say the Pledge of Allegiance every day
in their own classrooms, Art said.

With a flood stage of 25 feet, Glasgow is expecting the first October flood since 1986. At
31.0 feet, flooding will begin to affect buildings between the Fort Peck Highway and the
Milk River east of Glasgow. Sullivan Park would be totally covered by flood waters. So lets
hope it stays below that 31-feet stage. Milk River at Tampico At 25.54 feet, county gravel
roads north of the Milk River become impassable. But... we can all be fortunate were not
in the path of Hurricane Matthew. Evacuations (up to 1.5 million people) are well under way
in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina after Matthew, which hammered Haiti and strafed
Cuba, began battering the Bahamas. The storm killed 25 people in the Caribbean, mostly in
Haiti, and forecasters warned of life-threatening devastation as it crossed the Bahamas.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott pleaded with residents to follow evacuation orders. Do not surf. Do
not go on the beach. This will kill you, he advised this morning. There is no reason not to leave.

Donations sought for Hunters against Hunger

Anyone purchasing a Montana
hunting license has an opportunity to also
make an on-the-spot donation to Hunters
Against Hunger.
A Montana law allows individuals
to make a contribution that will help the
Montana Foodbank Network to process
donated wild game for free distribution by
Montana food banks to help feed people
in need, said Ron Aasheim, spokesman
for Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks in
Helena.
When one purchases or applies for

a deer, elk, antelope, or bison license or

permit the license provider will ask if you
wish to donate to Hunters Against Hunger.
FWP collected $63,000 from hunters
in 2015. The funds are channeled through
the Montana Foodbank Network to help
pay for butchering and distribution of
donated processed game.
The minimum donation is $1.
Donations can also be made along with
online hunting license purchases. Visit
FWP on line at fwp.mt.gov. Click Buy a
License.

OBITUARY

Danny Shumway
Danny Ray Shumway,
64, is home with his Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ as of
October 1st, 2016.
Danny is a kind and
generous man always willing
to lend a helping hand where needed. Danny has a great,
original sense of humor, and is referred to by his family
as their human google for his wide knowledge base of
anything and everything. He has enjoyed every moment
of his life, his time outside, his dog Faith, mowing and
working in the yard, and his many times with family and
friends, especially his two beautiful granddaughters.
Danny was born to Herman and Marlene Shumway
in San Diego, CA, while his family was stationed there
for the U.S. Marine Corp. He and his family later moved
to Wolf Point, MT where Danny would grow up and
meet the love of his life Linda (Sibley) Shumway. They
were married in 1980 and had two children, Sanders
and Sloane. Danny is a dedicated worker and spent over
3 decades working as a parts man at Fox Ford in Wolf
Point with great knowledge and expertise.
Danny is survived by his wife Linda, son Sanders
and wife Alicia, and granddaughters Liberty and
Melody; daughter Sloane and husband Rod Glasoe, and
children Mahaila, Mikel, Dalton, Zoe, and Toby; parents
Herman and Marlene, and brothers John (Rhonda),
Steve (Tonya), Bill, and sister Sheila (Joe) Woods, and
many nieces and nephews.
We, his family, are writing this in present tense as
we know Danny is alive, well, and having the time of
his life now in his heavenly home. As Danny came to
know Jesus he became a very loving, humble, tender,
and Godly man that loved the Lord.
He is a great husband, father, grandfather, son,
brother, uncle, and friend. We love you Danny, dad,
grandpa Danno and are excited to see you again when
we join you in heaven. Until next time...
There will not be a funeral at this time, but instead
at a later date, a celebration of Dannys life on earth, and
his moving to heaven. Danny believed in the scripture
that states, Yes, we are fully confident, and we would
rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we
will be at home with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8 NLT)
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Minot
Youth for Christ at 318 5th Avenue NW, Minot, ND 58703.
