Todays Gospel reading (Luke 17:11-19) recounts the

story of the ten lepers. All were healed, but only one
returned to thank Jesus. For what can you thank your
spouse today?
In todays Gospel we hear that Jesus showed
extraordinary mercy by curing ten lepers and yet
only one returned to thank Him and give Him
praise and honor. From time to time we hear about the
80/20 rule, by which it seems that 20% of a group does
80% of the work or 80% of the donations. Does this mean
that we had a 10/90 rule going? Let us all pray today in
thanksgiving to God for all of our blessings and let us do
so in such a way as it will upset all of the numbers and
rules.

RESPECT LIFE
Almighty God, giver of all that is good,
We thank you for the precious gift of human life.
For life in womb, coming from your creative power.
For the life of children,
making us glad with their freshness and promise.
For the life of young people, hoping for a better world.
For the life of people with disabilities, teaching us humility.
For the life of the elderly,
witnessing the ageless values of patience and wisdom.
Like Blessed Mary, may we always say yes to your gift.
May we defend it and promote it from conception to its
natural end and bring us at last, O Father, to eternal life,
in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Stewardship in His name.

Jesus healed ten lepers in todays Gospel. Only one (ten
percent) came back to say thank you. I, too, have
received many blessings from the Lord indeed, all I
am and all I have is gift! How, and how often have I
remembered to thank Him?

There is much suffering in the world very much.
And the material suffering is suffering from hunger,
suffering from homelessness, from all kinds of disease, but
I still think that the greatest suffering is being lonely, feeling
unloved, just having no one. I have come more and more
to realize that it is being unwanted that is the worst disease
that any human being can experience.
The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared
for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own
homes to remedy this kind of poverty. Mother Teresa

Prayer Before Our Election:

Lord God, as the election approaches, we seek to better
understand the issues and concerns that confront our city, state,
and country, and how the Gospel compels us to respond as
faithful citizens in our com-munity.
We ask for eyes that are free from blindness so that we might
see each other as brothers and sisters, one and equal in dignity,
especially those who are victims of abuse and violence, deceit
and poverty.
We ask for ears that will hear the cries of children unborn and
those abandoned, men and women oppressed because of race
or creed, religion or gender.
We ask for minds and hearts that are open to hearing the
voice of leaders who will bring us closer to your Kingdom.
We pray for discernment so that we may choose leaders who
hear your Word, live your love, and keep in the ways of your truth
as they follow in the steps of Jesus and his Apostles and guide
us to your Kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus Christ and through
the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

We the people of Immaculate Conception, being a community of caring people, will share our individual gifts,
promote every persons spiritual growth, support family life, and reach out to the world,
as we live out the gospel mission of Jesus Christ and His Church.
