1. INTRODUCTION
foundationPro was developed to promote education of foundation engineering in civil engineering and
construction. Currently, foundationPro version 1 consists of six projects/applications in the
shallow foundation, pile foundation, drilled shaft foundation, and retaining wall foundation
areas. The projects/applications are listed as follows:

2. TERMS OF USE
foundationPro can be used on any Microsoft Windows operated system (Microsoft Windows 95 or later).
The program can be freely installed and used with no restrictions or limitations.
3. QUICK START
3.1. FOUNDATIONPRO OVERVIEW
After installing the foundationPro and clicking on the program icon which can be found on the desktop or
main menu>programs; the following Main Screen of foundationPro software will pop up:
Below is the main Toolbox (F3 to show the Toolbox if not loaded) of foundationPro which can be used to
launch any of the foundationPro projects/applications:

Also, the following toolbox is available for the user in any of the foundationPro projects/applications:
Save (Ctrl + S)
Print (Ctrl + P)

The following screen will pop up which consists of a toolbox and several tabs:

Tabs
Stage 1 Create Input File (data input) which can be completed through the user-friendly interface
wizard. This includes completing the following tabs:
General tab
Pile Information tab
Soil Properties tab
Analysis Method tab
The General tab includes general information about the user/project and other notes (this
information is optional)
Type Pile diameter and Length and choose number of Data points
Type the required information to define depth and properties of each soil layer

Select the required methods to be used for estimating the pile skin friction in sand and clay and

Select the required methods to be used for estimating the end bearing of pile in clay and sand
Stage 2 Checking the input, Saving Input File, and Running the Analysis
Click
icon from the toolbox to save the file. The program will give the file .FPR extension.
Before saving the file, the program will check the input and will not save until all the input data
are correct. The program will give warning message if any of the fields are incorrect so that the
use can easily correct it.
Click
on the toolbox to Run Analysis or F5. The program will perform the analysis and will
enable the OUTPUT tab to view the output results.
Now you can view the output results in the OUTPUT tab
The user can view the results from the two tabs on the bottom of the Screen (OUTPUT tab)
The user can view the results and send all results to Microsoft Excel by Clicking on view on main menu
or toolbox or Right click on table or use the shortcut key (Ctrl + X)
Click
icon or Right click on chart gives same Option to copy chart and paste it in any
other applications such as Microsoft Word. Also, the use can change the settings of the chart by
clicking on Chart Settings.
