It gives me immense pleasure to recommend one of my best students, Jai Phookan for
his future academic endeavors. Jai was my student in the Financial Markets module in
the summer semester of 2016 and he proved to be a model student.
As his professor, I have had the opportunity of observing closely his invaluable
participation and interaction in class and to evaluate his knowledge of the subject
matter. He has been an outstanding student in all respects. Because of his hard work,
he was able to attain one of the highest scores in class (distinction) in what most
students consider a tough module. His work demonstrated fantastic attention to detail
and great insight derived from a passionate interest in the world of finance.
Despite being one of the few international students in a very large class, Jai exhibited
very strong characteristics such as independent, excellent participation in class and
tremendous confidence, which I feel will hold him in great stead in whichever graduate
program he intends to enroll into. His regular contributions to class discussions
displayed great insight into the topics discussed in class.
Throughout the course, he demonstrated great perseverance and initiative. Not only
was he greatly interested in and motivated to learn the material, he also put great work
into assimilating it to his own experience and developing his own ideas on the subject.
Jai distinguished himself by preparing along with his team a highly demanding group
project on the Asian money markets. As the captain of his project group, he showed
great leadership in working together with his team to craft a report that proved to me his
solid foundations and expertise of the material.
I wholeheartedly recommend Jai for his future endeavors, be it in academia or in the
corporate sphere. I have strong confidence that Mr Phookan will be one of the most
promising students in your program and I have no doubt that he will succeed in the
future.
