A WELCOME MESSAGE TO STUDENTS

On behalf of your distinguished Faculty, Program Management and eLearn LMS team,
may I wish you a warm welcome to your School of Diploma Studies, to Higher
Education and to your eLearning experience.
Your eLearn LMS system has been designed in relation to the governing educational
philosophy of Kaplan, which we call The Kaplan Way for Learning. The Kaplan Way
for Learning is an evidence-based approach informed by decades of research that, if
followed, should improve your chances of success. In short, the Kaplan way is a 3step approach towards learning that permeates Kaplan does here in Singapore and in
our institutions globally. The steps are:
1. Prepare
2. Practice
3. Perform

In your eLearn LMS system, these three steps are realised in the ways in which the
system enables you to go about your assignments. The THREE (3) main functions
related to assignments are:

Prepare: Planning and preparing for any endeavour prevents poor

performance and through research on the Proquest and Newslink databases
on your landing page, you can prepare you argument and responses to
assignment questions using credible Academic works. The guidelines for this
are found on page 16.

Practice: There is no substitute for practice to improve performance and

through the Draft Assignment function, you are able to submit drafts during
the preparation period and submit them without penalty. You also receive
feedback on the draft/s from plagiarism software Turnitin with which you can
hone your writing and referencing. The guidelines for this are found on page
20.

Perform: The proof of mastery is in the pudding or, in your case, the quality of
your writing, arguments and referencing. Through the Submission of your Final
Assignments you will receive Grades and Feedback on your level of
achievement both as learning on the assignment that was and for future
assignments. The guidelines for this are found on page 32.

eLearn_SM_08062016_V5.0

As with all things, you are the key determinant of your success in higher education
and the eLearn LMS system is but a tool to help you in the process. Use it often and
wisely and will give you learning opportunities and wisdom beyond the classroom and
help you develop understanding, bring you closer to the truth, and sharpen your
academic voice.

Yours in learning,
Chris Harris
Head of School, Diploma Studies
Kaplan Higher Education, Singapore

Following is the general command for taking screenshot or print screen
(for non-Mac PCs)

Press PrtScn button on your keyboard.

Open Paint by clicking Start button >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Paint.
Paste the screenshot by right-click on your mouse and select Paste OR press
Ctrl+V on your keyboard.
Save the file, preferably in JPEG or PNG format.

NOTE:
On some keyboards, PrtScn might appear as PRTSC, PRTSCN, or a similar

Certain laptops and other mobile devices that lack a PrtScn key might use other key
