Introduction
Thiscoursegivesyoutheopportunitytobeatthetopoftheweldingindustry,theIWEisablendedlearningprogram
consistingofcompulsoryonlinelearning,facetofaceteachingandincludearangeofinnovative,handsonpractical
exercises.Thefaceto facetrainingwillbedeliveredoncampusattheUniversityofWollongong.Youwillgain
comprehensiveknowledgeofweldingprocesses,equipment,materialsandtheirbehaviourduringwelding,
construction,designandfabricationapplicationengineering.ItisenvisagedthattheIWEqualificationwilltakeoneven
greatersignificanceinthecoming12months.

Manage,supervise,overseeallcompanyweldingandweldingrelatedactivitiesatacomprehensivelevel.Haveoverall
responsibilityforcoordinationofallweldingandweldingrelatedactivities.Beauthorisedtosignonbehalfofthe
organisationinallweldingqualityrelatedmattersordelegatesuchsigninge.g.goodsreleasefordespatch,inspection
signoff,acceptingtechnicalweldingrequirements,orverifyingthattheorganisationhascompliedwithallrelevant
qualityconsiderationsintheproductionoftheproduct.
YourcompanymayallocateyouastheirResponsibleWeldingCoordinator(RWC).InaccordancewithAS/NZSISO3834
QualityrequirementsforfusionweldingofmetallicmaterialsandISO14731Weldingcoordination Tasksand
responsibilities,theIIWIWEisrecognisedasaResponsibleWeldingCoordinator(RWC).Aresponsiblewelding
coordinatoristypicallyresponsibleforthequality,cost,andproductivityofallweldingrelatedactivitieswithina
company.

CourseAssessmentandExaminationInformation
Courseassessmentwillbecontinuousandbasedonacombinationofassignmentsandaformalwrittenexamination
onconclusionofeachmodule.Eachmodulewillbeexaminedaftertherelevantclassroomlearningweek.On
conclusionofeachlearningweekstudentsalsohavetosubmitindividualassignments,countingatleast40%ofthe
finalmarkawardedinthesubject.
TosatisfytheInternationalInstituteofWeldingsrequirementsforregistrationasInternationalWeldingEngineer
(IWE),allcandidateshavetoachieveaminimumfinalmarkof60%ineachofthefoursubjects.Studentswhodonot
achieveaminimumof60%arepermittedtoresittherelevantexaminationamaximumoftwotimes.

DiplomasandCertification
Aftersuccessfulcompletionofthecourse,theparticipantwillreceiveanIIWIWEDiploma.Onceyouhave3years
appropriateexperienceyoumayapplyforIIWIWECertificationtogainCertifiedInternationalWeldingEngineer
(CIWE).
