Material Description

WS =

alloyed tool steel

Material No. 1.2210, 1.2516 or similar.
A medium-alloy, strong tool steel with average edge-holding properties.

HWS =

High-Speed Working Steel with 12 % Cr

Material No. 1.2379, 1.2436, 1.2601 or similar.
A robust, strong and wear-resistant high-speed steel with good edge-holding properties.

HSS =

Superspeed Steel
Material No. 1.3343
An abrasion-proof superspeed steel due to the content of either Tungsten or Molybdenum with high thermal stability.

ASP =

Superspeed Steel manufactured powder metallurgically

Material No. ASP 23, ASP 30, ASP 60
Due to the homogeneous structure a higher fatigue strength and resistance to wear and abrasion is obtained.

CPM =

High Speed Steel manufactured powder metallurgically

Material No. CPM 9 V, CPM 10 V
Superspeed Steel manufactured powder metallurgically
Material No. CPM Rex 4
Due to the high content of Carbon and Vanadium resistance to wear and abrasion and edge-holding properties is increased.

Hard Material =

Ferrotitanite or Ferro-Tic
Material No. WFN, Type CM
The even distribution of Titanium Carbide guarantees less corrosion and pitting and high wear resistance.

Nitrided Hot-Work Steel =

Material No. 1.2343, 1.2344

Cr-Mo-V alloy Hot-Work Steel with a core hardness of approx. 40 - 45 HRc and a surface hardness of approx. 950 HV 0,3.

Surface Treatment
Longer Exposure Times can be obtained with the following Surface Treatments:
Nitriding

suitable for:
1.2379, 1.3343, ASP 23, ASP 30, ASP 60, CPM Rex 4, CPM 10 V or similar.

TIC Coating

(CVD Process) Colour: silver

suitable for:
1.2379, 1.2436, 1.3343 or similar.
Due to diffusion of Titanium Carbide the surface hardness increases to approx. 3000-4000 HV 0,05 with great core strength. This process is,
however, only suitable for larger diameters as from approx. 5mm.

TIN Coating

(PVD Process) Colour: gold

suitable for:
1.3343, ASP 23, ASP 30, ASP 60, CPM Rex 4, CPM 9 V, CPM 10 V or similar.
A layer hardness of approx. 2200-2400 HV 0,05 at a layer thickness of 2 -4 m can be obtained. The low coating temperature (approx. 480 0C) permits
the coating of tools with the minimum of tolerances. Partial coating is also possible.

TICN Coating

(PVD Process) Colour: grey

suitable for:
1.3343, ASP 23, ASP 30, ASP 60, CPM Rex M 4, CPM 9 V, CPM 10 V or similar.
The TICN layer combines the extreme hardness of a Carbide layer (TIC approx. 3000 HV 0,05) with the advantageous chemical properties and the
favourable sliding behavious of the nitriding layer (PVD approx. 480 0C). Layer thickness is 3,0 - 5,0 m.

Microchrome Coating

(MCP Process) Colour: silver

suitable for:
1.2376, 1.2436, 1.3343, ASP 23, ASP 30, ASP 60, CPM Rex M 4, CPM 9 V, CPM 10 V or similar.
Chromium plating improves the roughness of the surface and increases surface hardness to more than 1000 HV (= 68 - 70 HRc). The procedure is
suitable for very thin parts, as the layer thickness can be varied.

Grades for steel bolts and screws

Description system

The most important mechanical characteristics regarding steelmade bolts are designated by means of a two-digit number
combination, as per the following example:
8.8
The first fugure indicates 1/100 of the minimum tensile strength in N/mm2 stress area.
For this example tensile strength 8 x 100 = 800 N/mm2.
The second figure indicates the 10-fold relationship of the nominal yield stress ReL (or Rp 0,2) to the nominal tensile
strength Rm (yield point relationship) .
Minimum yield stress ReL
_______________________________________
. 10
Minimum tensile strength Rm
Multiplication of the two figures results in 1/10 of the minimum yield stress in N/mm2.
For this example minimum yield stress 8 x 8 x 10 = 640 N/mm2.
