ANSWER ANY FOUR QUESTIONS

ALL QUESTIONS CARRY EQUAL MARKS

Assume suitably any data that is missing

Q1) Draw the shear force and bending moment diagrams for the beam shown below. EI is
constant for all spans. Use slope-deflection method.

Q2) A beam ABC consists of spans AB and BC of lengths 4 m and 3 m respectively. The end
A is fixed while the supports at B and C are rollers. The span AB carries a uniformly
distributed load of 24 kN/m while the span BC carries a point load of 90 kN at a
distances of 1 m from the support C. Analyse the beam by slope deflection method
and draw the BMD. The EI is same for both the spans.
Q3) Analyse the beam shown below by Moment Distribution method and draw the BMD and
SFD. Support B settles by 20 mm. Take EI = 500 kNm2.

Q4) A beam ABC consists of spans AB and BC of lengths 4 m and 5 m respectively. The end
A is hinged support while the supports at B and C are rollers. The span AB carries a
uniformly distributed load of 24 kN/m while the span BC carries a point load of 100
kN at a distances of 2 m from the support C. Analyse the beam by Moment
Distribution method and draw the BMD. The EI is same for both the spans.

Q5)

A cantilever of length L and flexural rigidity EI is loaded with a point load W at the
free end. Using the Castiglianos first theorem calculate deflection at free end.

Q6)

Using the Castiglianos first theorem find the deflection under the load for the beam
shown below. Take E = 2105 N/mm2 and I = 80106mm4.
