Introduction to Indonesia

Debating Union

Exclusive proliferation, absence of nationwide


organization, and minimum collaboration is
happening in Indonesia Debating scene
Current situation in Indonesia Debating Scene:
Exclusive proliferation of debating, still concentrated in some regions
in Indonesia
Absence of a nationwide organization related to debating and critical
thinking
Minimum collaboration and coordination with both government and
private institutions

Indonesia Debating Union (IDU) is an


independent nationwide debating community
Description:
An independent and representative union created to coordinate and
stregthen proliferation of debating and critical thinking in Indonesia

Notes:
IDU is equivalent to other profession based community (i.e.
Komunitas Teknik Industri Indonesia, Ikatan Dokter Indonesia, etc.)
IDU will not be governed under any institutions, including
government

IDU has the vision to make advanced


debating accessible to every part of Indonesia
Vision statement
To be an organization that proliferate inclusive and advanced debating
and critical thinking in all areas in Indonesia

To achieve that vision, IDU will proliferate, gather


aspiration, and cooperate with various institutions
Role:
Inclusively proliferate debating and critical thinking in Indonesia
Openly gather aspiration from its members and create series of
initiatives to address members concerns
Closely work with both government and private institutions to
develop activities related to debating in Indonesia

IDU has three core value as guiding principles


Objective
We believe every decision should be made objectively with logical reasons
and supporting facts behind

Empower
We believe that our existence and initiatives we made should empower
our members
Inclusive
We believe that geographical challenge should not be limitation for our
members to get exposure to debating and critical thinking

IDU Headquarter and Region will have similar


roles but with different scope
Specific organization structure of IDU (i.e
department, detailed org structure,etc.) will
be determined by IDU president

Role of IDU Headquarter


1. Create nationwide initiatives and
coordinate & provide consultation for
regional initiatives
2. Disseminate information and gather
aspiration from Indonesia Debating
Community with help of regional IDUs
3. Collaborate with national level institution
(i.e. DIKTI, company headquarters, etc.)
Role of IDU Region
1. Headquarter to implement nationwide
initiatives and create regional initiatives
with assistance from headquarter
2. Assist headquarter to disseminate
information and gather information to
respective regions
3. Collaborate with regional level institution
(i.e. Kopertis, universities, etc.)

IDU will be accountable to Indonesia Debating


Community, not to DIKTI and Kopertis
