- Ask Sts to do the exercise 2a (p. 17). After
they finish the exercise, ask them to pronounce
and check the answer listening to the audio.
- Give Sts an extra activity so they can notice
the difference between stressed syllable in
verbs and nouns (find attached the model)

- Introduce the target structure (verb phrases)
by asking Sts what they know about it.
- In pairs, ask Sts to do the exercise 3a (p. 17).
Then they share the outcome.

- Give Sts the opportunity to practice Verb


phrses by playing Tic-Tac-Toe (find attached the
instructions).
Speaking & Listening
- Ask Sts to read the story of Hannah and Jamie
again. Explain that this is an open-ended story,
and they should choose which ending they
prefer: happy or sad.
- After that, ask them to form four groups
according to their choice and explain that they
should work together to retell the full story. Two
groups work with the happy ending, and the
others with the sad ending.
- Listen to the audio (both, happy and sad).
Repeat if necessary.
- Explain that, at least two groups (one for each
ending), will be chosen to retell the story by
using the prompts from the exercise 4b)
- Give them 10 minutes to practice.

1. One group is X, and the other is O. X chooses a verb and


uses it in a sentence related to the text (the sentence should
in the past simple or past continuous.
2. If the sentence is correct, put an X on the verb. Then O
takes a turn.
3. The first group to have three X or three O in a straight line
(, , / or \) is the winner.
