How to prepare an interview:

1) Read all about the Hospital

Please read all the information about the Hospital and the vacancies which youre
interviewing. It will show interest and preparation. All interviews will begin with this kind
of questions. Always show them your interest and preparation because the person that
is interviewing you today can be the same person that will interview you tomorrow in
another facility.
2) Positive Attitude and Confidence
Show them a positive attitude and never answer that youre trying to work abroad
because in your country things are bad it means that youre more interested in their
money than in the real job or that if things go better in country, you will leave them!
Show interest in growing as a professional, in learning more, in be a good team player.
3) Personal Presentation
Always dress smart for a face to face interview! It will give the idea that youre a
responsible person. In the end of the interview, ask them questions to show them your
interest. Example: What youre expecting from the person youll recruit? Do you provide
training opportunities? etc

Person Specification Criterion

This is the basic knowledge you need to possess to do an interview

1) Training & Qualifications

' Tell us about your experience and training to date.'
Experience
'We are not suggesting that you normally scan the wrong patient, but imagine that you
realized that you had scanned the wrong patient. What would you do and what measures
would you take to stop this from reoccurring?'
Image reading skills were also assessed as part of the experience score.
2) Communication & Relationship Skills
'What would you do if a member of the team was not pulling their weight?'
'You are taking a patient to the toilet in a wheelchair, but they do not get there in time
and make a mess. What do you do?'
We also included verbal communication skills here.

3) Analytical and Judgement Skills

Scenario: 'You have just moved a ventilated patient from Intensive Care onto the
scanning table when the scanner breaks down. There is a team of doctors and nurses
with the patient. What do you do?'
4) Planning and Organizational Skills
Scenario: 'You are working at night as part of a team of four radiographers, but the others
are all working in other areas, leaving you alone in Plain Film. The phone rings three
times from different areas all asking for your urgent assistance:
1) the Emergency Department call to say that they have a trauma patient who they would
like you to x-ray in resus; 2) Theatre (the operating room) call and ask you to assist with
a femoral nail; and 3) Intensive care ask you to go and perform a mobile chest x-ray on
the unit. In what order do you attend to these and why?
5) Other requirements specific to the radiography roles:
'Why do you want to work in the UK?'
'You will be expected to supervise students / more junior staff. How would you go about
motivating them?'
'Where do you see yourself in five years time - what sort of imaging will you be doing what will have done between now and then?'

15) How do you prioritize your workload especially where multiple requests are
concerned?
16) Where does working as a radiology technician fit in your 5-year plan?
17) How do you handle a situation when you get too many patients in a queue
waiting for x-ray or other radiology procedures?
18) What do you do when you are on duty but do not have any procedures queued?
19) Describe a time where you had to deal with a difficult patient?
20) What are your three competencies that make you excel in this profession?
21) Are you sometimes worried about exposure to radiation?
22) What do you do if a consultant or physician dismisses your diagnosis?
23) In a busy hospital environment, the ability to plan and organize your work
effectively is crucial. Have you any examples that would demonstrate your
planning and organizational skills?
24) What qualities do you think you have that will be important to us?
25) How do you work as a team member? Give examples of problems you solved
as a team worker.
26) Can you tell us a time when you overcame a professional obstacle/issue?
27) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
28) What kind of support you are expecting from us as an employer?
29) How should you perform an MRI exam and a CT scan exam? Explain it as if I
was a trainee.
30) What kind of precautions should you have with MRI exams and CT scans?
31) Tell us all about the use of contrast in MRI and why it's so important to the MRI
exams.

32) Therere 3 common contrasts in MRI. Name it.

33) Tell us all you know about CT scan.
34) There are other factors that produce contrast in the image. Name examples.
35) How would you deal with a difficult patient?
36) What would you do if a patient refuses to do an exam?
37) What kind of protocols you need to perform exams the safest way possible?
38) Data protection and confidentiality? What do you have to say about this subject?
