Discussion 3.1
Topic: Circle of Viewpoints-The use of technology in a classroom.
1. I am thinking of the use of computers in the classroom from the point of view of a high school
principal.

2. I think that each classroom needs to have technology available for the 21 century learner. The
technology that will be available on the campus will at minimum include a computer lab for student
use before/after school, a lab for use during school, COWs for each department, and a set of iPads for
each department. Students will also be allowed to BYOD. Teachers will be provided with professional
development for training on the use of the technologies, software, and Web 2.0 tools available for
use. There will also be training on different teaching methods to include technology at a higher level.
This training will be provided by the campus Instructional Technology Specialist to aide teachers with
implementing technology into their lesson. All teachers will be required to integrate technology
biweekly into their lessons. Teachers will go on learning walks during PLCs to observe the use of
technology in different classrooms. Teachers will also collaborate with each other on different ways to
use technology in the classroom. With the required integration of technology, the classroom
environment will become more engaging for the students and the teachers. When I walk into a
classroom that is using technology I will see engagement, discussion, and innovation.
3. A question I have from this viewpoint is what can I do to make sure my teachers are on board with
this vision? Should teachers receive incentives? Or be documented for not using technology?
