Topic: Tech Integration and National Standards
What surprised me in the assigned reading and why?
As an instructional technology leader I thought I would make a connection with my teaching practices
and the technology integration according to the Texas STaR Chart for this weeks discussion and the
LoTi.
After reading about the different levels of technology integration by ACOT, LoTi and the Chicago
Consortium I immediately thought about the Texas STaR Chart. For those that are not familiar it is an
annual survey that is sent out to teachers in Texas. Now Im not sure if all districts participate, but
my district does. The results of the STaR chart will provide schools with data for planning, progress,
trends, and help determine future directions in technology.

I reviewed the Teaching and Learning category and thought that I would be in Target/Advanced
Levels, but I was surprised that I seem to go back and forth between the Develop/Advanced Levels. I
think that as more technology is becoming readily available and my comfort level increases, as well as
my students in a couple of years I should easily be in the Target/Advanced level. It will take
continues support from my administrator, colleagues, and even students to move to those two levels.
After doing a bit more research on the LoTi I found myself Level-2 Exploration, and yes I was
surprised! I assumed I would have been much higher, but once I read the descriptions at the link
below my level was clear!
