Session One: Introduction / Opening Amenities


1. Session Objectives:
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
a. Perform the pre-test evaluation for the seminar;
b. Identify the objectives and topics to be discussed during the
seminar; and
c. Obtain an overview of the flow of the seminar.
2. Duration of the session: 30 Minutes
3. Materials needed: Visuals on opening amenities, training objectives
and schedule of activities, pre-test materials and pens.

SESSION ONE

SEMINAR OBJECTIVES
Terminal Objective:
As the result of the seminar, the participants will be able to
integrate gender concerns in their personal and professional
undertakings.
Specific Objectives:
At the end of the seminar, the participants will be able to:
o describe the situation of Filipino women and men;
o discuss the gender and sexuality concepts;
o analyze the effects of existing socio-cultural norms and
dynamics on sexual relations;
o identify major issues affecting women;

Session Two: Situationer: Babae at Lalaki: Noon at Ngayon


1. Session Objectives:
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
o explain the different situations of both men and women in the
different areas of daily activities;
o present an artwork in describing to the situations of men and
women today; and
o discuss the latest facts, figures and trends relating to men and
women today;
2. Duration of the session: 1.5 Hours
3. Materials needed: Visuals on Men and Women Situationer activity,
Visuals on Facts and Figures, pentel pens, colored magazines,
illustration boards, newspapers, glue.
4. Methodology: Workshop, Presentation, Lecture and Discussion

b) Direct participants to meet their group to prepare for

d) Activity period. Oversee and ensure that all the
participants are performing the activity.
e) Tell the participants that the activity period is over
and let them place their respective artworks in front.
f) Call the 1st group and let them explain their output

remaining groups one by one.
h) Appreciate the efforts all groups of their artworks.

questions and answer them immediately once
raised.
j) Give a quick summary of the overview of facts and
figures discussed and ask at least one (1) participant
to share his or her observations/opinions regarding
the discussed topic.

Session Three: Sex and Gender


1. Session Objectives:
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
o explain the difference between Sex and Gender;
o identify situations when sex and gender are misunderstood in
the different areas of daily activities; and
o tell the importance of knowing the difference between sex
and gender.

a) Introduction of the Subject Matter Expert (SME).

b) Ask the participants to meet their groups again.

SESSION THREE
VISUAL 1

c) Instruct participants regarding the mechanics of the


activity as follows:
Each group will be provided with two
cartolinas and sets of pentel pens. Each
cartolina shall represent a section for Babae
and another for Lalaki.
The groups are to brainstorm and to write on
their respective cartolinas what they think are
physical,
psychological
and
emotional
characteristics of Babae and Lalaki.
They are given five (10) minutes to fill out
each cartolina with answers.
d) If there are no questions raised, give the signal to
start the activity. Oversee and ensure that all the
participants participate in the activity.
e) After the activity period, request the participant to
settle back to their respective seats. Have each
participant present their output one by one.
f) Process their outputs by crossing out all biological
traits and keep all the non-biological ones. After
which, captions for both male and female will be
interchanged. Participants will be asked if all those
non-biological traits can be applied to both sexes.
The SME will proceed to lecture on SEX and
GENDER and connect each to topic that they relate.

1. Session Objectives:
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
o Explain the six (6) gender biases;
o Enumerate the different existing national and local laws
relating to Gender and Development; and
o Tell the importance of Gender and Development.

Session Five: Gender and Equality

o explain concept of gender inequality;
o tell the different examples of gender inequality in the different
areas of daily activities; and
o make resolutions in order to prevent gender inequality in the
different areas of daily activities.

outputs (2 Activities), pentel pens
4. Methodology: Role playing, interactive discussion, activity workshop

a) Greet the participants and tone down the seminar


atmosphere conducive for learning. Tell the
participants to sit together as a group.
b) Explain that as part of assessing the level of
awareness of participants regarding Gender and
Equality, they are to perform a 3-minute role-playing
presentation showing gender inequality at the
following areas of daily activities:
- Workplace
- Home
- Church
- Media, Movies and Advertisements
Explain that they have 10 minutes to practice.
c) Oversee the participants and ensure that everyone
is taking part and accepting roles for the activity.
d) Tell the participants that practice is over and remind
them to settle down and take note of the important
key points to be presented by each group.
e) Call on the first presenter and guide them as they
start their presentation. Once done, thank the
participants and call on the remaining groups in
order.
f) Thank the participants for their wonderful
presentation. Introduce the next Subject Matter
Expert (SME).
g) Discussion of Gender and Equality.
h) Provide a quick summary about the discussed topics
for Gender and Equality. Also, remind participants
regarding their commitment to eliminate gender
biases and inequality in their daily activities.
Thank the SME for the session. Tell the participants
they can have their snack for fifteen minutes.

a) Gather the participants back to their respective


seats. Encourage them to look for seats where they
can comfortably see the screen in front for the film
showing.
Remind them to be silent for the whole duration of
the film and take note of important points shown in
the film.
b) Oversee the film showing and ensure that all
participants are watching the movie.
c) Present the recent facts and figures showing the
situation of men and women and relate the statistics
to the topics for Gender and Development.
d) Thank the CPMO for sharing with the participants
the educational film concerning gender and its
issues. Also, give a summary relating all the
discussed topics of the seminar to the movie.

Session Seven: Post Test


1. Session Objectives:
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
o Perform the Post-test evaluation of the seminar.
2. Duration of the session: 15 minutes
3. Materials needed: Post-test materials and pencil
4. Methodology: Paper-and-pencil test

a) Distribute the post-test materials. Instruct the


participants to answer each question truthfully.
Remind them that scores will be used to gauge their
learning on Gender and Development.
b) Oversee and facilitate the Post-Test and ensure that
all participants are answering the testing materials.
c) Thank the participants for their participation.

Session Eight: Wrap-up and Synthesis


1. Session Objectives:
At the end of the session, the participants will be able to:
o perform the Post-Training Evaluation;
o enumerate the important points from all of the topics
discussed during the day; and
o tell whether the objectives of the seminar are achieved or not.
2. Duration of the session: 30 minutes
3. Materials needed: Post-test materials and pencil
4. Methodology: Paper-and-pencil evaluation, discussion and synthesis.

a) Distribute the Post-test materials. Instruct the


participants to evaluate the seminar accordingly and
there is no right or wrong answers. Explain the
purpose of the evaluation in improving the quality of
trainings given to employees.
b) Oversee and facilitate the Post-Test Evaluation and
ensure that all participants are given post-evaluation
materials. While the evaluation is on-going,
encourage the participants to answer all the

questions for an effective evaluation.


c) Thank the participants for their participation and
remind them again the purpose of the said
evaluation.
d) Provide a brief overview of the important points
discussed in the seminar. Also, remind the
participants to embody the purpose of the activity
as well as the importance of the said activity. Thank
the GAD members who spearheaded the discussion
of each topic, the HRMDO for the facilitation of the
event and finally the participant for their
attendance.
e) Lead the closing prayer. Thank the participants once
again. END OF DAY.
