Your Spanish reading journal will be used to help improve your Spanish
language skills by encouraging outside reading and structured
comprehension activities. This is also a great opportunity to document your
growth in both interpretive and writing skills.
Requirements
1)
Your journal must be completed and submitted every two weeks.
Your first journal is due Friday, September 2, and will be due every
other Friday after (unless otherwise assigned).
2)
Page 1 is your author page. Pages 2 3 (Tabla de contenido).
Number pages the same way we do for our class notebook. This
rubric should be cut out and stapled (from the outside) to the
inside, front cover. Only staple along the top.
3)
Select something to read and read it (several times)! Your
selection can be an article (newspaper, magazine, online), poetry,
song lyrics, comics, etc. While you have some freedom in your
selection, I ask that you refrain from distasteful, vulgar, and/or
offensive material for your journal.

Print out or copy(Xerox) your selection and paste it in your journal.

Illustrate your understanding of the article, and/or summarize what


the article is about.
Respond to one or more of the following questions (While you may
begin your journey in English, you will be expected to respond in
Spanish soon). You will be expected to expand on these questions
as the year progresses:
a. What did you like? Why?
b. What did you discover? How?
c. What did you notice? When? How?
d. What did you learn? Explain.
Choose 7 words from your reading selection that you didnt
understand. Highlight them in the article. Use a Spanish-English
dictionary (or www.rae.es), and write the translation/meaning. (Do
not use online translators) Then, write an original sentence for
each word. As a level 3 student, you should invest in a good,
Spanish/English dictionary (I like Oxford).
