convincedthatwhattheysawistrue.ThefirstmanwasM.DeLatti,aSabbathkeeperwhohadpreviouslybeenaCatholicpriest,and
hadspentfouryearsinRome.HevisitedmewhenIwaspastorinSt.Paul,Minn.,severalyearsago.Ishowedhimmytract,'TheSealof
GodandtheMarkoftheBeast.'Heatoncetoldmethattheinscriptionwasnotcorrectlyplacedinmyillustration.Hestatedthathehad

Lattiatoncepointedoutthemistake,andsaidthefirstwordofthesentencewasonthe
firstcrownofthetriplearrangement,thesecondwordonthesecondpartofthecrown,
whilethewordDei was on the lower division of the triple crown. He also explained
that the first two words were in darkcolored jewels, while the Dei was composed
entirelyofdiamonds.
"DuringatentmeetingwhichIheldinWebbCity,Mo.,Ipresentedthesubject,'The
Seal of God and the Mark of the Beast.' I used charts to illustrate it, one being a
reproductionofthecrownasBrotherDeLattihaddescribedit.APresbyterianminister
waspresent,Rev.B.Hoffman,andwhenIdescribedthecrown,hespokeoutpublicly
andmadeastatementtothecongregation,sayingthatwhileinRomestudyingforthe
priesthood, he had seen this very crown, and noted its inscription, and that the word
Dei was composed of one hundred diamonds. I met him and learned his name, and
visited him at his home, and was convinced from his description that this was the
identicalcrownthatBrotherDeLattihadseen,butwhichhasbeendeniedbymany.I
thenaskedhimforawrittenstatement,andhegavemethefollowing:

waseducatedinMunich,andwasrearedaRomanCatholic.In1844and1845Iwasa

seenbyDaniel.Atthesametimehewarnedthatitisthereforemorecertain,andlesshazardous,toawaitthefulfillmentofthe
