The Internet has changed society throughout time and has become a part of our society.
People have used the Internet for many purposes. However, do they realize that the Internet has a
lot of benefit to their education? The Internet has become an important tool in education and is
one of the biggest source of information. The Internet makes impossible things become possible.
It makes you able to communicate across the world within seconds. By searching on the Internet,
it takes less than a minute to retrieve the resources that you want from millions of data which are
stored in the Internet database and are searched widely all over the world.
The Internet is an excellence source for communication in terms of helping with
education. Without the Internet as a channel for people to communicate, there wouldnt be a lot
of amazing inventions. One of the most well known websites like Wikipedia was founded with
the help of the Internet. Jimmy Wales and Tim Shell, the people who help founded Wikipedia,
started talking online and they realized that they had same goals in starting a company online.
After founding Wikipedia, it became very famous and well known for its huge databases. It
allows people all over the world to put their knowledge about things and combine them together.
Another example of using the Internet for communication and education takes place in
India. Sugata Mitra, a professor from Newcastle University, decided that he wanted to use Skype
to help with education. He started surveying what people in India think about using Skype as a
way to learn and the results came out as a good feedback that people wanted to use Skype. So he
began to find volunteers that would tell stories, sing, or even teach online through Skype. This
project is called Sole and Somes or Granny Cloud. It has helped a lot of Indian students
studied online and was a great contribution to the world in the idea of teaching and learning

online (Myers, 2001-2016). However, there are students that study at school and there has been
evidence that the Internet has helped these people too. It has been surveyed that 28% of the
parents started using email to communicate with their childrens teacher (Maya Simon, 2001).
This could help parents and teachers better cooperate together to help with their childrens
education, including about the behavior of the child in class, whether the child did their daily
homework, and the understanding and attitude of the child to the lesson given to them. Not only
this, the Internet has helped students searched or asked questions directly to particular sources
that they need. An example would be there has been Short Internet Assignments for American
Government Courses which has been stated by the research that it helps students develop skills
on searching for information that they need independently. If the students are interested in a
particular part of a news, the Internet allows them to be able to send message to ask questions.
They are able to send messages to ask the senator of the CNN about any news that they were
curious about. Besides this, students are able to find another link attached on a site that you have
used (Crawford, 1998).
The Internet not only allow direct contact, but helps in contacting across the world. In
terms of calling, the Internet allows people to video call or voice call in a lot cheaper price
comparing to normal phone calls. Furthermore, in Mahidol University International
Demonstration School, the teachers and students use an online website called PowerSchool and
Edmodo to communicate to one another by assigning homework or clarifying homework. This
not only allows students to ask questions, but the teachers themselves to explain more to the
students about things that they might have missed out from the class and could attach videos for
students to learn more on their own.

The Internet has many sources and have helped contributed a lot to education. There are
various of free online information which teachers and students could easily find. One of the good
sources of free information would be MIT. On April 2001, MIT has announced that it will place
free materials on the Internet. This is very beneficial to the society because anyone on the world
could access these materials. Also, any new knowledge that is discovered can be spread
throughout the Internet quickly. This helps because information and knowledge that are given to
people are current and updated. For instance, news are updated online all the time, all over the
world. People are able to know what is happening all over the world with current information. In
fact, they are able to give comments or opinions to a particular news or fact and contribute more
to that particular thing. This information is shared all over the world not only helping you to
learn new knowledge, but it also allows you to write and share your knowledge with others, thus,
making it easy for everyone to search the Internet and get information from sources and sites.
Contributing to education, the Internet and computers have helped in advancing math and
science. They help by creating programs that perform calculations in seconds when human will
take a lot longer. It also helps in creating devices that help explore more in science which is
impossible for human to figure out without using them. Besides this, it helps human able to
modify and work in a lot of experiment. With the help of computers, the Internet is also one of
the sources that help keep information safe. It has been said to help send secret messages by
using cryptography, by encrypting the data send through the Internet.
The Internet has become very helpful in terms of convenience. The Internet has a lot of
functions such as emails and instant messaging which allows kids to help each other with
homework from their home. Also, it helps students able to apply to colleges electronically and
sign up for their tests such as SAT (https://www.collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat) and ACT

tests online for students to prepare for their test. These practice test are proven to help kids score
on the SAT by 100 points or more. The Internet have been implemented around many schools all
over the world. In Thailand, many schools like Harrow International School, Bangkok Pattana,
and Mahidol University International Demonstration School all have Wi-Fi for students and
teachers to use. This is probably because these schools see the benefit of the Internet on
education and believes that having Wi-Fi will be able to encourage students to be more
enthusiastic towards learning. Having the Internet access allows teachers and students to use
laptop and move around over the place. They could work anywhere that they want and submit
their work to their teachers at any time that they want. The Internet contains websites like
Amazom.com that allows you to buy books online. It is very convenient since you do not have to
go out to a bookstore to buy a book, instead it just mails it to your home. Besides this, the book
store might not have the book that you wanted since it might be sold out, so you could just order
it online where there are many websites that you could choose from. The Internet has lots of
information, similar to a library. However, it only takes a few seconds to find information from
the Internet rather than taking hours to find books because you can use programs such as pythons
and browsers to search keywords. Students who have personal issues and could not attend
school could do online assignment and video of class tutoring since the Internet enables us to do
this. On April 2006, UC Berkeley has announced to place recorded class lectures on Apple
iTunes U. On October 2007, they have launch videos on YouTube.
The Internet has a lot of beneficial to the society and one of them is education. It has
helped people from various places around the world communicate to one another easily. By this,
new inventions and discoveries has been made from online contacts. Students are able to learn

more from teacher by contacting them online and parents are able to observe how their child are
at school. Second, the Internet has many sources and are the contribution to education. Free
information and access allows everyone to be able to learn and exchange information to others.
News can be spread rapidly and are current and updated. The Internet are one of the medium that
help advance science and math. Without the Internet, people will not be able to know this much
about the world in the past and develop new technology for today use. Furthermore, the Internet
is very convenient and it helps people able to text and message one another right away. It allows
people to buy products online which products such as books can be used for education. Not only
that, it enables students to study online and watch online tutoring videos which are very
beneficial. People might use internet abusively, however, the Internet is very beneficial for you
and your education, so use them wisely!
