METHODOLOGY FOR GIFT DELIVERY SYSTEM

The methodology that will be used for developing Gift Delivery System are System
Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The model that will used is waterfall Model. This model are
divided into 5 difference phases which is:
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)

Phase 1: Planning
Phase 2: Analysis
Phase 3: Design
Phase 4: Implementation
Phase 5: Operation and Maintenance

Phase 1: Planning
In this phase, will do some research about the background of company, identify the problem
that faces, and suggest a new system by replace the current system. This phase also
determines the objectives, scope of the system that want to developed and reviewed related
fields. This phase is very important to give a preliminary description about the system needs.
At this stage, need to convince the management of company either need a new system or
redesign the old system to be more effective and efficient. The method that used to get the
information are like interview, refer books, journals, internet and others.

Phase 2: Analysis

Involves defining in detail about what should be done by system to assist and support the
organization toward the achievement of objectives effectively and efficiently. The activities
involved in this phase are:
a) Collect Facts
Collect facts and information related to system that want to develop. Usually for
collecting the data, used method like interviews, questionnaires and observations.
b) Identify system needs
The information collected will be manifested in the form of a model that will reflect the
needs of the system. In this case the user will be involved to determine the accuracy and
needs that have been modeled. Models that have been prepared perfectly known as
logical model because it does not outlining specific technology to be used. Determination
type of technology being used will be described as a physical model that will be
developed in the design phase.
Phase 3: Design
Designing the system as planned. There are 4 design will be created such as input design,
output design, database design and user interface design.

Phase 4: Implementation
System development consists of process writing code, creating interfaces and databases will
applied after the design phase. Selection of software and hardware that appropriate will make
this project run smoothly. System development is based on the requirement of company. The
results from the process in the design phase have to display for fulfill the project objectives.
This phase determines the system to operate properly before used by the target user.

Phase 5: Operation and Maintenance

Operation and Maintenance phase is the final phase in the waterfall model. In this phase,
testing of system will be made to detecting any errors and updating of system will also be
carried out in this phase. An assessment will be made on the system whether meets the user

requirements or not and improvement will be carried out. Monitoring of this system will be
carried out continuously to ensure this system can be directly used by the target user. Some of
the target user will be selected to use this system and see if there have a shortage during the
testing process. It is to ensure the application to function properly
