Sociology 1
Final Reflection
I am very satisfied with my work and effort with this course. At first I thought the class
was quite challenging due to it being an eight-week course and therefore, we would have twice
the amount of work weekly. However that feeling was gone when I learned how to budget my
time better. The assignment 168 Hours really helped with my mentality towards this challenging
course because I was able to budget my time well and recognize what I need to do on a weekly
basis in order to complete all my tasks.
Even though this was an online course, Professor Prior made it feel like a regular class
with the discussions. I was able to share my perspective on assignments, get feedback on my
assignment from my peers, read and give feedback to my peers assignments. Through this
experience I was able to learn the material from many different perspective and be able to better
reflect on what Ive learned.
It was really easy to navigate through Canvas in order to complete each assignment and I
was able to complete most assignments without technical difficulties. However I wish Professor
Prior would have better organized the Group Work Assignment. Out of a group of four, only two
members, including myself, had completed the assignment even though Ive repeatedly sent
them emails of the document through Gmail. Yet the two people who completed their
assignment were penalized because of the two refusing to complete the assignment.
Overall this course has helped me better understand Sociology through differing
perspectives such as functionalist perspective, conflict theory, and symbolist interaction. It has

also brought upon me a new perspective on race, gender, culture, religion, political stance, and
how people communicate with each other through those identities.
