Problem definition
The lack of relevant, timely curricular and extracurricular information for
international students during their student life at BUAA is a major issue. Students
coming to BUAA for the first time require important information to settle into the
new surroundings during student life, the sources of which are many (University
Notice Boards, International School, Individual Schools, Student Union etc), in hard,
published form (information materials / brochures / flyers in hard copy, Notice board
in the International School etc) and soft form (website of the International School,
Wechat group chats, websites of individual schools, etc.)
experiencing cultural shock, adjusting to new environment and so on, it has been
experienced that there is a big problem/issue to get all needed information to
make the beginning of their studies at BUAA easier here. Newcomers are having to
face problems with elementary things such as how to register as a student, how to
choose courses, how to participate in student activities, where to find places to eat
for reasonable prices, where to prepay Internet access, know how of official

procedures, to meet relevant deadlines, to complete requirements to

acquire scholarship etc.
Moreover, many students have problems to follow some official procedures
during their studies, meet deadlines, complete all requirements as a
scholarship student. The lack of information also limits mutual getting know each
other among students, socializing and participation in events organized by the
university and Student Union etc.

Goal Definition
To develop and share a phone app for provision of in order to provide complex
curricular and extra-curricular information to all international students at BUAA
in a timely fashion on the one mobile phone platform accessible both on all
devices with Android or iOS operation systems. Thanks to this app, students will
have easy access to all essential information for easy study and social life at BUAA.

Impact of not doing the project

Students will have to face the diffulties after their arrival to BUAA, as well as daily
problems in their student life due to the lack of useful information.

Possibility of dissemination of all relevant and important

information pertaining to international students from a central
platform accredited and run by by the International School.
More students shall meet the set deadlines for processes as a result
of better control of info through this App.
Timely communication to all of changes made in acadmeic and nonacademic activiites could be done effectively.
Possiblity of making it a public mailbox / incorruptible inventory of
data
Percentage of students registred on time following all instruction will
increase.
Percentage of students missing the fingerprint registration for CSC
scholarship fingerprint will decrease.
Percentage of students participating on events organized by university,
International School, Student union etc. will increase.

Desired impact and outcome of the project

The app aim to provide easiness to information for International Students
of Beihang University. This will improve Beihang University image and
provide students with enough information, helping them to get more
integrated to the university.

This app aims to provide a central source of provision of important

curricular and extra-curricular information to International students at
Beihang University in an effecient way to provide them with the
opportunity of integrating themselves well in the academic, social and
cultural fiber of BUAA, thus enabling them to become a productive part of
this institution.
