Kidz Summer Quest
Beginning on June
14th we will host
our annual big
event for children.
It has traditionally
been known as
“Vacation Bible
School,” but this
year it is named
Kidz Summer Quest. It is for
children entering first through
sixth grade. On Friday there
will be a special time at the
playground where the team loser
of the Missions Contest will “walk
the plank,” as Betsy Evans or Larry
Rigley will be good sports in the
dunk tank. On Thursday evening
I will be speaking for the special
parent and family night called
“Sails to the Wind” sharing the
gospel and relating to the theme
of the week.
We have already heard from 61
children with no church affiliation
who have indicated their interest
through our online registration,
along with over 500 who have
preregistered. We can network
in our neighborhoods and invite
children to attend. After all, they
are very special to the Lord Jesus
Christ. He would not allow the
disciples to rebuke them after He

There is a guest reception in the Commons immediately following the
Saturday night and Sunday morning service. Come and meet Dr. Wicker.

to such as these” (Mark 10:13-14).
Jesus then “ Took them into His
arms and began blessing them,
laying His hands on them” (verse
16). There is no more precious
picture of our Savior in all of the
Bible! Now we are His hands and
arms to embrace these little ones.
They truly can “come” to Jesus in
faith even though they are young.
With the sailing theme we are
reminded that we can sink or
swim or we can boldly hoist
our sails and catch the winds
of God’s power. We dare not
let the world continue to steal
the values of our children as we
hunker in a bunker, hermetically
sealing ourselves off in an out-of-
touch counterculture. Floods of
change have been sweeping over
America, but the gospel of Jesus
Christ still changes. Truly, “sur f ’s
up!” Our quest is for God’s best.
The need and the answer never
changes.

recovery program for overcoming hurts,
