Mini Crib
Crochet Pattern

Design by K. Godinez

http://amilovesgurumi.com/

Material:

crochet hook size 2,5

Catania wool from Schachenmayr in pink and white
Margarine box or similar plastic material, I have used an plastic folder. The plastic material
should not be too flexible. If you have very flexible material, you can also insert several
layers into the crochet piece, so that thereby there you will get a good stability. Cardboard
can also be used, but then the bed is not waterproof. It could be also a problem if the carton
is flexed while you sew it or when the kids are playing with the crib.
Pipe cleaners
fiberfill
sewing needle, tapestry needle

To stabilize the mattress you need the plastic material. Measure the size of the so far crocheted
piece and then draw the shape on the plastic material. Cut off the corners, so that they are round
shaped. You need to cut out two plates!

Appliqu
To the front and the back part of the bed you can sew an Appliqu. I've written three simple
instructions for you, but perhaps you have your own wonderful ideas for your crib.
Heart (2 x)
4 x ch close it with sl st to a ring
Crochet all of the following stitches in the ring:
4 x ch, 4 x tr, 3 x dc, 2 x tr, 3 x dc, 4 x tr, 4 x ch, sl st
Cut the thread and sew it
Crown (2 x)

4 x ch, skip one stitch, sl st, ch turn
R 04
underneath the first chain stitches: 4 x sc
Underneath the second chain stitches: 3 x sc, 3 x ch and now crochet in the just now
first crocheted ch: 1 x sc, go ahead and then make 3 x sc
Underneath the third chain stitches: 4 x sc
sl st, cut the thread and sew it
Shamrock (2 x)
5 x ch and close it with a sl st to a ring
Crochet all stitches inside the ring: sc,
(3 x ch, 2 x tr, 3 x ch, sc) x 4
sl st, 6 x ch, turn, sl st in second chain from hook, 4 x sl st and make a sl st inside the ring.

Pin the appliqu with pins on the outside of the bed frame and sew it. How can you find the
outside? On the outside all stitches look alike, but on the inside of the bed frame you see the front
loops from R 14 + R 15 and R 17 + R 18, which will be used later as a help for sewing the bed
together.

Finishing
Attach the bed frame to the mattress, first sew one side completely:
Sew the lower edge of the mattress to the bottom stitches of the bed frame (R 14 + R 15).

http://amilovesgurumi.com/

Then turn the bed and sew also the bottom part from this side of the mattress to the bed frame.

Now turn around the bed again and sew the top of the mattress to the bed frame.

Sew the second bed frame to the mattress in the same way.
Then attach the bars with pins and sew them on the sides and on
the mattress.

Have fun crocheting!
